Hi all :new_bye1: Just a quick introduction, i've been browsing this site for almost 2 years now but never really bothered to sign up (terrible i know).. So thought i'd take the plunge and since i couldn't find a specific introduce yourself bit, thought i'd take the initiative to do so! So i've been a SC in a force in the north-east of England for about two or so year now, still enjoy it to this day and even now get a bit of a rush when the blues come on when im on duty! I've just applied to North Yorkshire for the regs so fingers crossed i manage to get in, it's a big step for me though as i'll more than likely have to move down there if i'm successful. Anyway, ciao f…

I found out today that in your vetting process they actually check your social media sites. 6/10 that fail the vetting process is for this reason.

A question for our Scottish friends... why do the Scots spell 'Police' as 'Polis'? I've only ever seen the latter used informally; is it something to do with the pronunciation, is it slang, derived from Gaelic or something else altogether?

Are you only allowed to apply for one force at a time? I want to apply for the above forces however GMP may recruit soon which is closer to home and don't want to stop my chances if I applied at another force!

Does anybody have experience with this? How hard did you find it? What training guides did you use? What accuracy are they after?

Guys/girls I am trying to drum up some interest. Anybody looking to do the CKP, there is a course due to start in a few weeks at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College's Nuneaton campus. It is going to be run over 5 weeks on either Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday. The weeks will be staggered. The cost is £650. The college is aproved by the npia/college of policing. PM me for any more info.

I'll post this here, although I usually get the forum section wrong but there's a cycling list at work and someone sent this: http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/road-eager-let-off-cos-of-police-rules-suffers-from-twitter-attacks/014718 Watch the video, I am aghast. Eligable for a caution?! Aside from the fact that I'd have stuck one him myself how is chasing him down the road not an appalling aggravating factor after having already having tried to have a go once! The list at work does do my head in sometimes about being very pro cyclist and therefore anti everyone else but that just takes the biscuit!

I was on vehicle patrol the other day and as we drove down a road I saw a driver lean out of the driver's side window of his car, make eye contact and say something to us. Our window was up and we never heard what he said, so we drove down to a safe place, turned around, pulled up beside him and I said: "Hello, sir,do you need our help?" I immediately got a tirade of abuse. The chap started ranting and raving for no apparent reason. I pointed out that I was merely inquiring as to what he wanted as he had spoken to us and it looked like he might be flagging us down. Despite be being very polite and logically explaining the situation this chap just didn't seem to, or want t…
