Hi all, I normally post on the force specific section however I'm posting on here today to ask for help from everyone. In a few weeks I'm giving a talk to over 1000 students on disability hate crime and also on ASB. Does anyone know of any good impactive (short) videos covering these topics? I've had a look at the Fiona Pilkington video on YouTube which is indeed very impactive but shows the failures of the police. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Apparently you can take Loser statements over the phone for simple things like Stolen vehicles etc where the victim doesn't really supply any evidence other than they left it there locked up etc and when they came back it was gone. Has anyone done one of these and how does it work? Do they still need to sign a copy at some point?

Hi all, I'm currently in my training for SC. I just need some clarification. When making an arrest I have to give the arrested person information as to why I have arrested them, which is, I have to inform them they have been arrested, the grounds I have arrested them on, and why it was necessary for their arrest, is this correct? So for example, if I arrest them for theft of a phone from a mobile phone shop, my grounds for arrest would be theft of a phone and it was necessary because the arrested person has committed an offence with no intention of paying for the item? Probably sounds silly I know but I have a knowledge check coming up and I want to make sure I am getti…

We'll as I'm looking to join the police and I'm fairly young, 19. I'm rather inexperienced when it comes down to certain things, I read up on the "how to become a special constable" that a good thing is joining neighbourhood watch? Is there anyone on here that does it? Any advice for me? Many thanks!

Saw this on Facebook. Story: A kid fills his rucksack up with spray paints and then walks down a busy road, places the bag next to a bus stop (suspiciously) and runs off. Moments later bomb disposal have closed off the road, and they have got their robot in to disarm the bomb- watch to see the ending! Post your thoughts on this. What is putting police officers off?Despite shows like Prime Suspect and The Bill glamorising the job, there is a shortage of detectives in this country. What is putting police officers off? Share 17 Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect. Photograph: ITV Ever since the plain clothes Criminal Investigation Department (CID) came into existence in the 19th century, detective work has been the most glamorous side of policing – to the outside world, anyway. High-profile detectives wrote their memoirs and were mythologised in the press. There was Fabian of the Yard a…

I'm looking for a thread on how quickly people have completed their pdp, things they struggled achieving, and how to write it up etc. I don't know if it's called PDP everywhere or just lancashire but it seems like there would already be a thread on this but can't find one, can anyone give me a link please if one exists?

Hi All, So it has been just over two years since Theresa May took office as home secretary and 7 months since Tom Winsor took office as Chief Inspector of HMIC. It has been a turbulent two years to say the least, for police forces up and down the UK. My personal opinion is that there have certainly been more negatives, rather than positives when it comes to the decisions that they have made. I have spoken to many of my colleagues who all feel the same as myself, that the job is simply not the same as it was 4+ years ago. A numerous amount of officers have lost morale and interest for the job - that has been proved through various questionnaires set forth by the current …
