Can somebody tell me what information you get back when you fill in an ACRO form requesting your personal information that a force holds on you? Does this just state the convctions you have or will the the report include details from the arresting officers etc. Thanks.

When watching the youtube clip of the drunk guy having a fight with two American officers I was lead by a related link to this video of an officer in Cuba making an arrest: I must say, I was dead impressed by how the bystanders assisted the officer - even to the extent of holding his hat and watch and giving it back at the end! I can't really recall many incidents of people helping me out in an incident: There was one chap who mounted his moped onto the pavement in front of a bloke I was chasing - but I don't think I've ever had anyone go hands on to assist. Has anyone else got any good examples or gratuitous youtube clips to share?

Morning all, I'm shortly due to attest as a special for South Yorkshire and have always wanted to be in the regualrs. Unfortunately the starting pay would result in a drastic pay cut where I very much doubt I would be able to cover my basic bills ie, mortgage, utilities and food, let alone any luxuries. Obviously I'm very knew to the game and won't be making any rash decisions by quitting my current boring, unfulfilling but not bad paid job. I've heard before (can't remember where, when or who, I might have even dreamt it!) that you can enter higher than a regular foot bobby depending on previous experiences, work, qualifications etc? Is this something anyone on here …

When I was first attested in 1987 I was in full uniform, tunic, etc. and had to attend magistrates court very early in the morning along with another 15 or so other 'newbies'. It was a 'closed event', so no-one other than our senior officers saw us take the oath and being sworn in. Although it was a very proud and solemn moment for us all I felt that there was something missing. I had longed to be able to share this moment with family and close friends, after all, the Met and WMP had their 'passing out parades' and the like and we had nothing like it. The only other event was the Annual SYSC Review and ceremony which was somewhat of a rushed affair. I am pleased that…

If a Special holds the rank of a Special Sergeant, can they go straight into the regulars as regular Sergeant? (Recruitment permitting obviously!)

Looks like Dave the Mod is going to lock every thread I start. I am not asking or giving permission regarding anything. I do understand and Albert mentions it in his talk that the younger generation have been dumbed down. The police are letting in people who 20 or 30 years ago would not have passed the entrance exam. Someone gave us an example earlier they said to me take your rubbish with you. Treason is the most serious crime one can commit its more serious than murder because its the murder of a nation. If you want to be ruled by the EU and the Vatican carry on. If you don't and you want England to remain a Sovereign nation you need to stand up and do something. R…

My opinion is that it would make me reconsider driving a police car. I drive rental cars sometimes, if I crash one do i tell my insurance company? No as the car isn't insured in my name. Same with a works van. I mean what about a RPU driver if they are doing a TPAC and a small amount of contact is made what happens then? A stupid, unworkable policy

Anybody ever heard of a method called 'trunking' your car set, which apparently allows it to act as a relay/booster for your personal set in areas of bad reception. All I know is that there's a mode you can set the car set to which does it, useful for when we're in hospitals etc, anyone that's tried to communicate whilst in the Royal Berks will know what I mean!

Thoughts please on Northamptonshire Police's new cannabis test for drug driving; it is being trialled and will require a specimen of saliva to provide an indication of cannabis in the body; which will warrant further testing for a section 4 charge. (Until new legislation is passed)

Today i had the pleasure of attending a county court (for a private matter).on the way in there was a security point manned by G4S employees. I have dealt with G4S before in courts ( in my capacity as a SC) and they have been exemplary ! very polite, very courteous and very professional. today however i felt the standered of security was rubbish. i was asked to place my metal items and bulky stuff into a tray (which was not checked AT ALL !), i then walked through the arch and set the alarms off.... i turned around expecting to get "wanded" but they ignored me and waved me on. later i returned to the court (after leaving the building) and the chap who was on the secu…

I am well aware that people regularly film police and put them on youtube. I am also well aware that it's not illegal to film police officers in most circumstances in public. That said, I have appeared on youtube, and I'm not happy about it. I'm not unhappy about my actions, it relates to my involvement in the arrest of someone which is perfectly lawful, and I would have no problem with PSD or anyone else viewing the video - they would conclude the police were professional and lawful througout. Now I already know it's not illegal to film (although we did have to take his phone off him to handcuff him) - but what's the score with placing it on youtube? I know it's not a…

Hiya folks, Seems like a few forces are now asking PC candidates to have completed the CKP. Is it looking like all forces will be asking for this, even if the candidate has policing experience as a Special Constable or PCSO?
