Hi Folks Just a quick question. I recently switched to wearing contact lenses rather than glasses, which is really handy BUT I m concerned as to what are the implications of chemical reaction of cs when it gets in contact with lenses. I m wearing monthly ones so if I was to get exposed I understand I would need to still throw them away (which is little pricy as monthly are more expensive, no problem if you just bin your daily ones ) Anyone here had any experience here. Anything I should look out for ? I m worried they might get STUCK to my eyeballs (somehow), but I'd like to keep wearing them whilsts on duty. Any comments or experience on it would be appreciated Ch…

Hiya, Thought it may be a good idea to start a topic for the recruitment of PC's in the North West area. The idea of this would be to update as and when the PC recruitment status or further information for police forces in the North West which are: Cheshire Police - http://www.cheshire.police.uk/jobs/pcs/how-to-become-a-pc.aspx Greater Manchester Police - http://www.gmp.police.uk/content/section.html?readform&s=25B226FDEA5C2DF5802579610041CCA7 Merseyside Police - http://www.merseyside.police.uk/join-us/merseyside-police-officer-recruitment.aspx Lancashire Constabulary - http://www.lancashire.police.uk/recruitment/police-officer Cumbria Constabulary - http://www.…

So, I'm at Leeds festival and its pretty busy already! I'm a little concerned about the really strong smell of cannabis in the air. Does anyone know if this would really be an issue for me in terms of drugs tests? I don't want to be on edge all week!

My pal(Tony) owes £250 to an ex landlord. He was in financial difficulty for a while so could not pay, explaining this to the ex landlord. The guy has now sent a local gorilla around to collect the debt, Tony is refusing to pay the gorilla but says he will pay the landlord. The gorilla says that he has bought the debt off the landlord & he owes him the money... He is not a licenced or registered collector & has no court paper work. He is trying to intimidate him into paying. He is prepared to pay the debt but the landlord will not reply to his text or calls Any advice??

If there were two officers on a job neither were "traffic police", who drives? Do they decide between them, is one assigned to drive at the start of the night, are some trained to drive and others always paired up with such officers?

I feel for the officers here, having someone put a megaphone two feet away from their faces and shouted at, not too pleasant. What are your thoughts on this? And am I right that In thinking that you can actually assault someone with a megaphone as the sound can be very loud?

Hi all, I was talking to a friend the other day about joining the Police. He said some Police forces get more respect than others. (more respect from the public for the job they do) He thinks Scottish forces & the Garda in Ireland get better respect than the PSNI and English forces do. What do you think?

I'm hoping this is the right place to post this - perhaps moderators could suggest suitable forum / thread location. Was just wondering of any forces enable remote access to their systems - specifically- do forces around country enable SCs to remotely log in and update things like duty hours? Not a loaded question and before any iT professional quotes chapter and verse at me - i completely understand the restrictions / issues / technical aspects.... just wondered out of interest....

Just wondered which forces currently have a Deputy SC Chief Officer (DCO) and/or Assistant (ACO) in their structure. Have spent a bit of time searching, but haven't found a collated table of ranks/grades for the various forces anywhere central - and it would be useful to have up to date info. Am asking just for research purposes. Caveat - I'm not looking for a debate on whether these positions should/shouldn't exist, or whether they are a "rank" or a "grade" - just the facts on their existence. An idea of the current establishment/number of SCs in total would also be very useful. thanks in advance
