Something happened to me yesterday and I just wanted to get the opinions of you people and what you would have done in this situation. So i was talking to a friend on the phone when right behind me, a car pulls up fast almost running into me. The car is a sort of electrical/diy or construction car company. I hear a voice saying watch the f***ing road. I stop speaking and go over to the side of the car as I didn't hear completely what he said and asked, did you say something mate. He says yeah you better watch were your going, didn't you see us behind you. I told him I was on the phone and wasn't aware and that it was his fault. Next thing you know he's getting aggressive …

Quick question for any PO L2 trained specials: how often do you have to do refresher training and how long is it?

A question that has been bugging me and I can't seem to find the answer, I was wondering if anyone could help. Do UKBA (uk border agency) police officers have the same power as all police constables? Are they warrented the same? Or do they only have the power to arrest for immigration offences? Thanks in advance

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the video from a police powers, legislation, and how to deal point of view. lI'm not sure how I would deal with it. I would think I could detain him if an offence has occurred but not sure. So your thoughts and experience would be appreciated. Thanks. Moderators- not sure if the video can be viewed. If not, can you please assist? Thanks.

I am sure this has been done before. However just this evening a officer refused to crew with a special on my team for no apparent reason. He said he'd rather crew on his own than with a special. Experience/Knowledge of this occurring anywhere? I assume sometimes individuals are outcast, but not the specials as a whole. N.b. I will log a report to officers supervision.

Is an non-independent special allowed to be paired with a PCSO? I know it's avoided but I didn't know whether it blatantly wasn't allowed or just not desirable.

There is a scheme in operation called 'Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme' whereby politicians spend time with the armed forces to better understand the needs of those services. Here is some information on the general nature of the scheme: http://www.da.mod.uk/da-news/armed-forces-parliamentary-scheme-afps-members-visit-the-defence-academy/ So, in light of recent changes to policing (particularly in E&W) and the falling esteem of the police in the eyes of political decision makers (and vice versa): Do you think it would be beneficial that a similar scheme be set up with regards to Police-Politico relations?

My favourite course undertaken since joining the Police has been MOE; it was a range of fun exercises and had a good team working element, which made it enjoyable. Additionally it was very physically demanding, which was exciting when you got through the door. Does anyone else agree; or would like to discuss any other course they consider their most fun / enjoyable?

Recently in my force there has been a few big changes. One of which is the availability of courses that have never before been available for us. There is talk of the following courses being available: MOE Public order (Not sure which level) Response driving Initial pursuit Trainer courses for OST/PST Stinger It's great news for us but just wondering what is available in other forces?

As the title says: What is the longest foot chase you've ever conducted (whether successful or not)? The reason I'm asking is because I was just out for a run and whilst I understand running is a good form of exercise for general fitness and cardio, wouldn't it also be better to improve the distance you can run at full pelt? With that in mind, I'm wondering what sort of distance I should be aiming for, hence the question...

Being called a PCSO when you tell people you're a special constable really annoys me. Especially when you explain it all to them and then they say "Oh but you can't really arrest anyone?" It's even more annoying when your own family tells guests that "oh he's a PCSO now". How do you guys deal with this? I try and try and try to educate people about the difference but they never understand.

I passed my medical and interview over 3 weeks now. Think the force is doing their checks now. Have not heard anything since I passed my interview. Just wondering if anybody knows how long it normally takes as training is meant to start next month.
