(Apologies if previously posted, not overly good on searching and finding what I want) I was just wondering if anyone knew the old 10 radio codes... 10-7 repeat etc I have tried to Google, but only found a few and they don't match the few I've picked up during my Specialing time, which is only two mind! I only know 10-7 is repeat and 10-9 is urgent assistance. Anyone able to assist with the last?

Been considering trying to learn a language for the last few months. How beneficial do you think a language be to a PC application?

Hello all... Been a while since I've been on here. Just wanted to see if I'm alone or if anyone else shares the same view.... I've been a regular for just over a year after two years as a special. Through both personal experience and listening to colleagues I can't help but feel the work we put into a prosecution versus the sentencing is totally disproportionate and seems to be getting worse. I know this isn't exactly 'new news' but it appears to me the courts don't seem to be on our side at all..... The effort I put into jobs only for the result to be 'a day served' or some cases NFA despite a wealth of evidence and a pnc record the length of the M3.... I've noticed…

I know this is a difficult subject, but i wanted to get some HONEST opinions. I do around 4000 - 5000 miles per month, I'm on the road 7 days a week (half days at the weekend). Its my experience that most people speed. In built up areas I stick to the limit, not made any easier by people behind my large vehicle tailgating me. What i want to know is why there isnt more done to support drivers who do try to do the limit in built up areas. I was once stopped in a 30 for doing the limit ("most people do 40 up through here") and could not believe it. As I walked from my vehicle to the Police car an Impreza came past us doing at least 50...yet I was still detained why I wa…

Over 6000 police officers will be on duty for the carnival over the two days many working on cancelled rest days (including myself). Over 1 million people will visit. I think maybe its got too big especially on the Monday. Nowadays as well the floats themselves are also rubbish, whilst in the past they would contain awesome steel bands playing live music, now they all seem to be trucks just blurring out Caribbean music on loud speakers. You could get the same effect driving down Portobello Rd in your car with the windows open and the music cranked up. Speak to many police officers and they dread carnival. No annual leave, rest days cancelled many on short notice, loads …

Just wondering what people see being a Special Constable as? A 2nd job? A part time job? A hobby? Or maybe something else?

I'm seriously thinking about joining, but wondered what age people on here joined at. Did anyone join when they were older? At the moment I am 38. If I eventually joined regulars, do forces pay according to age or simply based on rank? What are the chances of me getting in considering that most 20 yr olds will probably be fitter and able to run after people for longer!? I do a bit of mountain biking and quite a lot of hill walking but even so stuff happens when you get older and I'm sure fitness is important. Am sure you guys get sick of all the questions, but always good to get info from the horses mouth so to speak

I'd like to share something I discovered recently when traveling to the states and have subsequently found useful when policing. Many of you will undoubtedly already know this. The restrictions for entry into the US provide amazing leverage when dealing with someone who is currently unknown to police but is acting stupidly enough to potentially be arrested. Drunks refusing to go home, errant cyclists refusing to give details, that sort of thing. It's even better than pointing out that (if drunk) they might not have been interviewed in time for work the next morning. The provisions for Australia are similar, but that's a more unusual destination. I work in the centre…

I've been trying to find some resources online and on the forum about police discretion/ a police discretionary model, but having no luck. Can anyone help? I know about the methods like restorative justice that I have used but I was wondering if there any formal document or reference about it I can look at?

For those of us who wish to become a PC in the future, I'm wondering what people are doing to prepare them? Certainly in my role as a PCSO there is no progression, and you hit a bit of a wall. Having said that I keep my training up, adapt skills and learn other aspects of the job to assist me in not only my current role but in the hope that I make it to PC one day. Apart from working as a PCSO, trying to sort finances out (and credit rating, debts etc) and constantly upping my fitness, I don't know what else I can do to prepare? What are you guys up to at the moment?

Is there a difference within the law between someone being knifed or stabbed, or are they considered the same thing or treated differently when someone is being arrested. If they are treated differently would they also come under different sections of different acts. No specific reason for asking this question, just came across something I read where they spoke about the victim being stabbed and knifed. Thanks
