There is a car in our area which drives around resembling an unmarked police vehicle. I won't go into the full details as I and others have submitted intel reports on this. It has clear lensed LED lights fitted to the front bumper and rear which looks exactly like an unmarked police vehicle. (Skoda vRS) these lights flash amber though not blue. The lights fitted are like these... I have only seen this vehicle while off duty but wondered if there were any offences if I came across this car whilst on duty? I understand you can only use amber lights in the following.... (i)a road clearance vehicle; (ii)a vehicle constructed or adapted for the purpose of collecting r…

I think it could be quite interesting in the years ahead to see how things change. This argument about Peel's principals is probably outdated now. Times have changed, things have moved on. I bet even he wouldn't have seen what the world has become..

Hi everyone... Basically I'm waiting to see if I'm through to the paper application. Extremely nervous because my work history isn't great, although I've been working and training to be an accountant for the past year and a half. Prior to this, I didn't work for 7 months and I'm worried this will hinder my application. The truth is, I didn't work because my father died and it was a terrible shock to my family, and during the same week I witnessed a major crime which went to court and I was the key witness. If my application goes further, I know they will find out about what I witnessed, which is fine and I'm not worried, just concerned they will think I can't cope wit…

Do those of you who wear your number 1's to court take your PPE belt with you (I don't mean wear it - just take it with you)? Some members of my force take it, some don't - just wondering what others do. I guess we're on duty so we should be correctly equipped surely?

This is more aimed at those who are fed reps or know the police regs well An email was sent out last week advising all officers that their rest days had been cancelled on 10th November for Remberance Day, a couple of days later another email came out saying that the rest days are only cancelled for NPTs/SNTs. Is it fair for them to send out the emails like that, one day saying it's for everyone then saying just for certain teams, and would Remberance Day be classed as an 'exigency of duty' or "an unplanned public order event' on the basis it happens every year on the same weekend. Should this shift have been built in to the shift pattern rather than telling people a m…

I didn't actually realise that It was this easy to find someone online on the electoral roll! I thought you had to go to a library or something! http://www.3702.co.uk If you type your whoever name in there it may well come up with their address, which I find slightly concerning for a police officer, I have already freaked out several forum members by telling them their address! Advice is to go onto the edited electoral register which you can do so by contacting your local council which I think is a must for all Existing and new SC's so baddies cant find you as easy!!

I've got my Day 1 assessment for the regulars tomorrow and the confirmation email states "If you haven't already been sent an email directly from the Met Police, requesting you to complete their security vetting forms, you will do soon. Please follow the instructions on the email regarding the completion of these forms and which of the forms you are required to bring with you to your Day 1 assessment". I have received NOTHING! Can anyone see this being a problem?? Will I be told that I can't take the assessment?? My own fault really as I should have asked what had happened to my vetting forms a few weeks ago! Thanks, Bdot

Hello All, My training for the MSC commences on the 13th of October, not long left now. However, they have given me a Recruits Dress Code letter. I was just wondering what they mean by "Last name in CAPITALS, in black, down the left hand side of the shirt." Does this mean, I can buy any plain white T-Shirt and just get a permenant marker and write my surname on the left hand side? Or would i need to buy this from a specific shop? Hmmm, Im nervous and well excited at the same time, got my shoulder number too, today. :D Also was wondering whether anyone else is doing the Saturday course. In an email which i received a little earlier ago it stated some days i will need t…

Hello, Sorry to bother again, but I was just wondering if anyone else is going to the Saturday training course within the Met Police? First training session to be held on a Sunday, however, after that it will be followed by another 22 consecutive Saturdays. Eagerly anticipating, and very excited. If you do not mind, can you care to share your training experience with myself and everyone else. Thank You, Joynal
