Has anyone been in the unfortunate situation where youi have dealt with a MOP one on one then the MOP has raised a complaint against you but lied in an attemt to get their own back? Then you have faced questions from P.S and they have sided with the MOP and you have been dealt with formally. :new_sorry: If yes what did you do and what was the outcome?

Interested to hear what other forces do in relation to transportation to/from work with Police dogs. Does your force provide you with a marked vehicle or do you have to travel in your own car to pick your vehicle up from a central point: If the latter is the case 1) How long did your force allow you to purchase a vehicle for such purpose? 2) What did your Force do in relation to equipping your purchased vehicle to ensure it was suitable for transporting Police dogs? 3) Did you have to purchase business insurance yourselves? 4) Are you paid essential user allowan…

This might of been answered before but just a quick one, what happens in a pursuit where another road user's car is damaged but the police have to leave them to continue chasing the driver? Do they just contact their insurance company and then they will contact the Police directly? I know this most likely happens in extreme cases but i was watching motorway cops and just thought about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkfHJH9Pfos about 3:20 mins in!

As I'm reading about the Policing minister again attacking police (mostly using examples from 20 years ago) about the 3 fed reps and their meeting with Andrew Mitchell. These officers were representing not the police service itself but the Police Fed in its role as a representative body for police officers themselves. Now they are facing disciplinary action from the IPCC for trying to represent the officers on that Downing Street gate. Could you imagine this happening to a Union rep. Its not only this but when Fed reps are trying to represent officers they are going up against people who are senior (meaning they can actually give a lawful order to these reps) and people…

Don't read beyond this if you get angry easily. :new_rtfm: I was talking to an officer from BTP today and he mentioned how lucrative the pay is in the rail industry (for railway staff, not the police). He gave me the following example - a conductor, working for one of the train companies, gets paid: That means at the present time a probationer would have to have been in the job for four years before he'd be on the same pay as a train conductor. That's before you take into account the current police pay freeze and the fact that the railway pay their staff extra (i.e. in addition to their basic salary) for working unsociable hours and pay them commission for selling …

Hi all, So Today in the morning as I was out and about, I went past 2 parked Flatbed Lorries. Additionally to all the Yellow flashing lights (looked like a Christmas Tree), I saw 2 Rear Reds Flashing at the back. First I thought it was just a defective brake light or something similar, but then I've noticed that they were 2 Grilles/ Surface Mounts. As we all know, Flashing Rear Reds should only be used on Emergency vehicles. So what's is your option, If you were on-duty, Would you have stopped and looked into it? And if 2 of the company (Didn't catch the company name) Lorries had them, I guess there are more lorries on the fleet with RR.

What it says on the tin, is Detective a Protected title? I have just been made aware of an investigations team who are being issued vests with patches bearing the title Detective (the large reflective ones on the back) They've had Warrant Card holders for a long while but their new director wants a much more overt look to them when conducting visits, serving warrants etc.

So, how do we think they are doing? What spurred me to post this topic is this tweet from the Association of PCCs that just popped up on my twitter timeline. Edit: The forum software won't let me display the picture in the tweet.

So here's a link to a really interesting blog: http://ukcriminallawblog.com/2013/11/05/jury-nullification-do-the-right-thing/ So I have a few questions: In your opinion, does the concept of jury nullification undermine the law or is it a safeguard? If you were on a jury, would you ever consider voting against conviction even though you believed they were guilty beyond reasonable doubt because you disagreed with the morality of the law? Do you think this should be outlawed or should it be more widely publicised?

This year the Arthur Ellis Award is being hosted by Wiltshire Police on Sunday the 17th November. For those that don't know, this award is for teams and individuals from forces in the South West comprising; Avon & Somerset, Devon & Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. I will be up there on the night before, so if anyone attending is also staying up on the Saturday night it would be nice to meet up in the evening.

Hi, I have not long been joined with my force and I know this is a strange and potentially ridiculous question but can you be too keen? I have booked in a few shifts for next week and when the sgt asked what time I wanted to start I just said at the beginning of parade, which is an early start, her reply was "crickey your keen". I am able to do a lot of shifts at the moment due to my job and I have a lot if free time currently. I know this is probably a good thing but I just dont want to be a burden on the officers I go out with or anything like that. It is probably just newness and I will soon settle in hopefully. Thanks.
