So our Chiefs recently opened the floor to challenge bureaucracy and tell them what we thought could be gotten rid of to save time. One of the ideas posted was to get rid of the Pocket Note Book, now I know for some people these are a religion and expect this topic may provoke some people with strong feelings (or I could be way off the mark and people may not care less, in which case this will drop straight off the board and I wont feel too embarrassed for too long!) Anyway for what it's worth I think that this would probably be a good idea; Our policy says if the information is recorded elsewhere in a retrievable format then it doesn't need to be repeated in the PNB, …

With Remembrance Day fast approaching, I thought Id ask how/if you wear a poppy? So, How do you wear yours? Does anybody wear theirs on the left side of their head wear, like the armed forces? Obviously, this can only be done with peaked/patrol caps, which I don't have Mine just gets crushed and tattered on my body armour, which doesn't look good!

So yesterday in McDonalds eating a Big Mac I get a phone call from an 08 number and answered it, I was then told by the lady on the phone that she was calling from the Procurator Fiscals office (I stay in Scotland) and to inform me that a person of the name.... Has been released on bail with bail conditions not to contact you as you're down as being the victim of an assault. This is the first I'm hearing of this. So I said to her do you mind confirming my name as I don't believe you have the right person. So she confirmed my name which is correct and has my mobile number but the address she has for me is for a place about 5 miles away! I haven't gave a statement t…

I was checking someone's driving licence the other day as a proof of ID and it wasn't until after I had accepted it that something struck me. I work in a shop as my day job and someone wanted to purchase tobacco, asked for ID, checked picture, hologram etc... anyway long story short I checked her driving licence all looked good to me and as I gave it back I noticed the reverse of the card had a long list of vehicles that she is allowed to drive. This list about 10 different vehicle categories long. It only made me think after because I've had my full licence for 2 years and I only have 2/3 on the back of mine. To clarify a few things: - She had a full UK driving licen…

Ok so let me start by saying I have searched and couldn't find another thread like this My question is why do so many people get so worked up over uniform ? Uniforms by there nature tend to look alike so why do people seem to break out into a cold sweat unless they're illegally carrying a baton then I personally don;t see the issue- maybe it's just me

Hi everyone, apologies if this is the incorrect location for this post. I am currently in the Met and looking to transfer out to a county force predominantly D&C in the near future. I see that the pay scale is the same at around £30,366 a year. Can someone please tell me what there basic take home pay is for their force with five years service. I need it to try and work out if i can afford to move out of London. The answer can obviously be after all deductions if possible and include the unsocial hours too. Hope someone can help Thanks Carl

Does anyone know much about this new organisation? I saw a picture of their new Chief Exec in the Daily Fail wearing a Hampshire Police Uniform and it turns out that he was their former CC. Looking on their website, there is also a pic of their Chief Operating Officer in police uniform, who was in Avon and Somerset. However, the College of Policing is a private company and it appears that there is no legislation to have enabled its formation. Does anyone know if some of it's leaders are technically on secondment or what their status is? It just seems an odd arrangement that it is a private company.

Do any forces use this? This Saturday gone myself and my crew mate were in plain clothes, looking for someone wanted on recall. The chap we were looking for goes out late at night, and never uses the main roads. He uses the smaller roads and paths, and heads across fields etc. The problem we obviously had was how are we supposed to be able see him in a huge field in the pitch black? I don't know if night vision goggles would be an answer to this? Or maybe even thermal imaging? Just an idea I was thinking about whilst in my lecture at uni this morning

Please raise a glass to Tony a Parsons - a columnist at the Sun on Sunday. Also, please SHARE this story with your friends! By TONY PARSONS, Sun On Sunday Columnist - Published: 20th October 2013 The Public Will ALWAYS Pick A PC Over An MP IF you wake up in the middle of the night and someone is kicking down your front door or climbing through your bedroom window, who are you going to call – your MP? I thought not. The Prime Minister says the British people are losing their trust in the police. He is dead wrong. In our blood and bones we know the police are all that stands between everything we love and the wicked world. And yet it increasingly feels like slagging …
