bit of a tricky one this, Philip has decided to take early retirement on ill health grounds, and buys himself a narrow boat, with the intention of touring the water ways of gb in the summertime and wintering at his villa in spain he finds. That the boating life has a few drawbacks, not least is how far he is from a postbox or a shop or a pub and he can't walk far with his bad hip. So he buy himself a Honda monkey bike, at great expense as they are collectable classics' now. on the day, he sets off on a one mile trip down the canal tow path to buy some provisions coming the other way is Steve the special constible, there have been numerous complaints ab…

You're off duty in your favourite fast food restaurant when you see a marked van outside, the local SNT Sgt and a number of PCSOs out on patrol. A few PCSOs decide to go inside the restaurant and order some coffee. As they are on duty Police staff, the staff serve them free of charge. Are there any offences committed by the staff and PCSOs? If so what do you do: 1) Give words of advice to the offending party. 2) Report the matter later. 3) Have a word with the Sgt. 4) Turn a blind eye. 5) Something else.

A family play monopoly at which point the man of the house (Joe) catches his own son (James) cheating. He decides to strangle his son as a punishment. His wife (Jane) is not happy with Joe's behaviour and decides to grab his neck and pull Joe backwards. Joe's daughter then attempts to pull the son away and says to her Mum "that's not how you pull them apart". Jane replies "I've been breaking up fights before you were born." and the struggle continues. Eventually a distressed family member dials 999 from a landline. In fear for their safety they do not speak but the operator hears what is happening and routes the call to the Police. As a result you are dispatched to the ad…

You receive information relating to a sudden death at an elderly female's home and as such you attend her home. Upon arrival you are greeted by two family members who take you to the deceased. You follow the normal procedure and notice there is a considerable amount of jewellery both on the deceased and on the bed. The two begin discussing the jewellery and it is apparent that there is a disagreement of who the property belongs to. What do you do with the property / what powers do you use?

You are on vehicle patrol when you receive intelligence via the control room stating that the Ambulance service have let them know that someone has called them to report that someone is driving an Ambulance service car down a motorway in another county headed in the direction of your force area. Shortly after you see the "Ambulance" and call it in to control. The "Ambulance" overtakes you and activates it's blue lights. You activate your blue lights and pull the "Ambulance" over. The driver complies and is dressed as a member of the Ambulance service. However he won't produce any ID or his driving licence on request but gives his name and address on request. You confirm t…

I came across these videos on Youtube last night; they were part of a campaign by the Scottish Police Fed. a few years ago - some of you might even remember it. I've been thinking it through and I can't come up with an obvious answer (apart from the third one - pee/poo myself, hit the red button, spray, baton, pray...) 1. Car Crash, injured person, fuel leaking You arrive at the scene of an RTC. Vehicle is on its side, smoke/steam coming from the engine, and a 'liquid' leaking from the back. 1 injured person inside the car, bleeding from the head; you call it in to ask for help from ambulane/fire, try to reassure the man and see the large puddle of liquid that the c…

You're on public order duty in the NTE zone of a city and attend an incident where a male has just waved his belt around in the air, was taken to the floor by officers from another serial and was arrested to prevent a BOP. A sober MOP (party A) stands at a reasonable distance filming the incident at which point another MOP (party B) who happens to be drunk comes out of a nearby pub, accosts him and says to him "DON'T FILM THAT ****". Party A reminds me that he isn't doing anything wrong by filming to which party B explains that "IT'S NOT FAIR TO FILM THAT". This debate soon escalates into an argument with both parties calling each other names and party A soon loses his pa…

You arrive at the home address of a distressed mother who called to report that she and her children were alarmed and distressed by the window sticker displayed by a Norwich City FC fan depicting a Norwich City FC footballer urinating on an Ipswich Town FC shirt in the car park of a bowling alley. She shows you a picture that she took of the sticker, another one of the registration plate and another one showing both the sticker and plate. On the sticker the footballer's penis is shown. Any offences?

So a call comes in of a suspicious vehicle, the vehicle has a tail light out and Is silver. you are out having a scout to see what you can find and: your colleague says he sees a silver vehicle turning at the end of a side road (could possibly be it) but couldn't tell if the lights were working.... but you see a vehicle with a tail light out not too far ahead (but can't tell the colour)... Do you follow your nose or your colleagues, now this is a simple case of left or right, but I guess it depends on gut feeling. it's dark by the way

An MOP is given a section 35 notice by another officer and subsequently breaches it. Obviously you'll want to arrest that person for breaching a section 35 notice. What necessity do you use?

Your patrolling a busy home football match outside a local public house (located on private land) at which point an MOP begins filming the door staff. He is told rather loudly "NO PICTURES PLEASE" and asks if he is on private property. He is told that he is not on private property and carries on filming. He is then told that he is on private property and as a result the bouncer moves the camera away. The cameraman shakes a fist at a member of door staff and says "If you do that again, you're gonna get punched" before begrudgingly leaving the land. A colleague calls the man's attention and he carries on walking ignoring the officer. The officer then chases and grabs the ma…

It says on the gov.uk website as well as many others that if searching someone in a public place " A police officer can ask you to take off your coat, jacket or gloves". I was trained that to remove a hat the person had to be out of public view, for instance in a police van. How were /are others trained?

PCSO A and his colleague PCSO B, are on duty in the local town centre doing foot patrol duties at a busy event at which point they both notice a copblocker stood there with his phone out videoing them. They approach the copblocker and PCSO A asks him nicely why he is videoing them. He does not say anything in response. PCSO A removes the phone from the copblockers hand and says that he will have the copblocker arrested unless he cooperates. The copblocker calls his bluff and again makes it clear that he won't be answering PCSO A's question at which point PCSO A hands him his phone back. PCSO B then asks politely why the copblocker is filming and he again refuses to answer…
