You notice a man/woman in the course of your patrols who is well known to your local force (for previous offending) and is now carrying out a protest about an unrelated matter. His mode of protest is to chant a number of slogans, which do not constitute criminal offences. How do you react?

John imports the chassis for a motorcycle and registers it with the DVLA. It is a work in progress and resulted in the chassis ONLY (no engine) being stored at a friends warehouse for 3 years +. John has the V5 but forgets about a he bike for 3 years and his friends warehouse goes bump but no one thinks to move the bike at all. 3 years later John gets a letter for DVLA informing him that someone is trying to register the bike (let’s assume it has now been competed and has an engine). John contacts police who advice him to speak to DVLA. Bike has now been reregistered in new ‘keepers’ name in different part of the country. No idea when it left the abandoned warehouse…

This lot called net justice seem to be Facebook live streaming when they confront the alleged pedofiles.... https://www.facebook.com/lovenetjustice/ As a result there is a instant social media backlash on these suspects before the police have even arrested them... I know that these groups to a good job, but to live stream the meet screams of trial by media and could affect any outcome of the case. Thoughts?

Bob texts his ex partner stating that he is going to kill himself. Ambo attends and sees Bob on the floor in the living room. Police called and door forced. Bop is semi conscious and on search of the house police find a number of empty tablet blister packs as well as a failed attempt to hang himself from a loft. Bob is taken away by ambo to hospital under the mental capacity act. Police keep house as a scene and get CSI out straight away. Bob is poorly and it's unknown if Bob is likely to prove so Police / CSI take potos of the scene, seize the rope from the loft and Bob's mobile phone. (Just in case) What power does the police / CSI have to keep the house…

Bob attends his local petrol station in his vehicle as he normally does on a weekly bases. On this occasion Bob fuels up his vehicle to the value of £60 worth of fuel, walks to the paypoint and uses his bank card in the card reader. The card reader being a bit dodgy, Bob has to pull it out and place it back in again... He then gets a VAT receipt and leaves. On arriving home Bob looks at the receipt and notices a discrepancy, the receipt is displaying CASH and not CARD, he then remembers that he didn't enter his pin number so he must not have paid for his fuel.. Knowing this he drives back to the petoral station and speaks to the staff member on the counter, wh…

They've reversed in and everything. Or perhaps they've abandoned their car because of snow. And it's blocking you in. What can you do in such a situation? Surely the police will lend a hand? Or the council? It's your property, after all."

https://www.policenow.org.uk "Police Now is a two-year programme that offers top graduates the opportunity to become neighbourhood Police Officers and transform communities...." Why have I not heard of this before? Is this a good idea? Anyone been an applicant of this scheme or know anyone who is part of it?

I just watched the above you tube link and it just made me think... Has anyone had any off duty incidents that they would like to share with the forum, excluding names places etc? I think the off duty officer did really well and he probably wasn't even aware that their was a camera pointed at him too. You hear all the time the word "blinkers on" while off duty, but how bad does it have to be before you step in? The fact that having no PPE and being in plain cloths a deterrent? The other month I just finished at 03:00 hours after a 10 hours shift without a break, got changed into my civies, got into my vehicle, drove out the station car park and straight i…

Can someone clear and argument up for me please. I colleague has attended a job were the victim has been making threats to kill over Facebook. The attending officer has taken screen shots, mg11s and crimed it as threats to kill. This has since been reclassified as Mal coms as apparently you can't have threats to kill over messages because their is no imidate or credible threat to the victim. I've always though you could have a threat to kill over text, Facebook, letter... Am I wrong?

Ok so this is a real life problem for me ( I understand the disclaimer) but I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts. I live in a building with communal corridors to which I must walk up 3 floors to my flat. Each floors mezzanine has a communal door located on each floor stairwell that when opened, leads to 4 flats. So you effectively have 12 flats in the building. As you open the ground floor door to the building you are hit with a strong Smell of cannabis and it is strongest on the first floor. You cannot narrow it down which with first floor flat it is coming from however on the following floors the smell weakens & on your floor there is no smell at all…

What would you do if someone started following you about whilst you were on duty?

You are dealing with an RTC when you see a protester shouting "NAZI SCUM" at you and your colleagues. He remains at the scene once you've dealt with the job and you have your own car and another officer with a van available to take him to the station. What do you do?

You are told by your Inspector to apply for a CBO on someone engaging in behaviour which whilst not anti-social provokes anti-social behaviour from others and places that person at an increased risk. You are also told that the person has a mental health condition and in the Inspector's opinion does not under the risk that he is putting himself through with the behaviour as he might provoke others who might then assault him. The stated purpose of the CBO is to prevent ASB and prevent the person coming to harm. Do you make the application or not? On what grounds?

Sometime in the not so distant future the call for independence rocks Britain again... This time the cries for freedom aren't from the Scottish or even the Welsh... but the Cornish. The population have rallied in huge numbers and the Cornish independence movement has gained massive public backing within the county with many residents wanting to 'make a go of things' without the meddling London Elites interfering in Cornish affairs. Confidence grew in the viability of independence after the great clotted cream shortage of 2019 which ensured demand for the food stuff for decades to come, the favoured accompaniment of scone eaters everywhere quickly shot up in value sur…

You're on routine foot patrol, alone. You turn a corner and witness male No1 hand something to another male No2 in exchange for cash. You're not sure what male No1 handed to male No2. Both see you, and quickly walk away in different directions. Who, if anybody, do you speak to / stop (bearing in mind you're alone and they're now heading in different directions) and would you have grounds to search either of the males? Thanks.
