Hi, I'm not a police officer but after some advice. Today I was verbally abused by a pedestrian who deliberately walked out in front of me in a supermarket car park. He believed that he had the right to walk out in front of me because there is a zebra crossing sign on the side of the road (not very visible because of the other non-traffic signage on the same post) but there is no zebra crossing, zig zags or lights. If a member of the public enters a police station and is invited into a room that is separate from the public... The refused to leave that room and go back into the public area , they are not going to cause damage or injury so no BOP.... What powers / offences do you have to remove them from the station..... Joby is a driver, a cyclist and a pedestrian, and to be assumed he is a responsible person at each. On his pedestrian days he crosses an ATS controlled junction which is notoriously dangerous. There is ample time for traffic to see the ATS and stop on amber, but many continue through, even accelerating through. After having observed once too often the ATS turn red for traffic, though before the green pedestrian crossing, a car accelerate through the red, the next time it happens he gently lobs a beanbag at the car. You receive a report that there are two men fighting in the park. As you approach you see two young men dressed in combat pants, boots and a hooded top facing off, then there is a flurry of kick and punches they wrestle to the ground , get up face off and start again . They explain that they are practising their mixed martial arts and are both consenting to the contest. One has a nearly closed eye and a bleeding nose and the other heavy brusing to the side of the face and blood running from his ear. Offences? Or leave them to get on with it ?

Basically police are called to a Secure Mental Health Hospital (no public access) to a report of a mental health patient suspected to have a weapon. You get there and you manage to secure them (using common law powers in the defence of yourself and others) what powers do you have to then search this person unless you arrest them (and lets be honest they are already in a secure unit, no custody is going to accept them). I did a bit of research that says that staff at the Mental Health Hospital can search Sec 2 MHA patients under the supervision of that persons designated medical practitioner, and its up to them to justify the reason for that search (this however does …

Bill and Ben have them selves a van and a set of step ladders. They go around town and knock on doors hoping to find a gullible, most of the time elderly, person to do a bit of work for. Bill and Ben would ask if the elderly persons gutters need cleaning and quote £20 to do such a task. They would be up there 5 mins, do a poor job and be on there way £20 richer. If they get lucky they would quote £200 to £300 to fix a bit of led flashing or drain pipe and asked to be paid up front stating that they will back the next day to carry out the work, they leave with the money but never return. A man damages a car for parking I his spot. Later the owner of the car arrives and is of Muslim Origin. The verbally abuses her bringing in her religion and race into the abuse. Although the car was damaged before he knew of her religion is this is this still criminal damage racially or religiously aggravated section 30 crime and disorder. Or is this 2 separate offences?? If a police officer conducted a search of someones premises due to shoplifting offences, but when they arrived came across a large amount of illegal drugs and a young child who appeared to be under the influence some kind of substance, would they have the authority to seize these illegal items under Section 18 of PACE? as the items found were not what they were looking for If not, what section would this be under? thanks in advance

You're performing public order duties in the local clubland district when you see your two of your colleagues escorting a drunken woman to the SOS bus. Behind them you see a member of the public (who I will refer to as a copblocker) following and filming the officers and the drunk woman walking to the SOS bus. What would you do in the following scenarios? 1) The drunken woman complains that copblocker's attention is unwarranted. 2) One of your colleagues tell you that the they are unhappy with the copblocker's actions and ask you to deal with him. 3) There are no complaints from either the officers or the drunken woman.

How do you deal with these different types of 'borrowing' / theft scenarios, How do you prove the intent of the person, short of asking if they intend to return it? Is simply ignoring the person asking enough to show their intent?

In a town right in the centre of the UK is a place called scenario city - it's normally a nice place, however a few individuals are up to no good. Since taking on a new job you discover that your boss is a borderline alcoholic, along with your new colleagues. You work with this company for 3 years and become good friends with them. However you completely disagree with what they do after work. You are in attendance at an incident where someone is receiving treatment from an ambulance crew. Someone turns up and begins filming the patient. What would you do in the following scenarios: 1) The filming alone causes distress to the relatives. 2) The cameraman begins to distract the ambulance crew with his filming alone.

There's private land nearby, you do a quick check as this is often a hotbed for thieves and you stumble across a new learner. He has a provisional licence but no insurance or L plates. As it's private land this doesn't matter but during your stop and search, you find cannabis joints in the vehicle. The new driver claims he was picked up by a friend who is teaching him to drive in his spare time. He claims no knowledge of the drugs and a drug wipe shows no drugs in his system. There's no alcohol either. Would the learner driver be guilty of any crime, or misdemeanour? Would the learner driver be responsible in any way for the cannabis in the vehicle?
