One for the more experienced/knowledgable or a traffic officer. At a 6 exit roundabout, I entered at '6' , intending to go round and back the way I've come as the road down from '1' ,my original intended route, is blocked. As I pass '2' I see a car emerge from '4' go against the traffic and go up '3'. What offences has the driver committed? This actually just happened to me and on getting home the local news tells me there has been a Car v Lorry on the bypass (exit 1 on my roundabout) hence my post -tea family McFlurry recce will have to be postponed (damn).

I would like you to answer how you would deal with this scenario both in uniform, and also off duty: You park up (if you are in uniform it is an unmarked car) on a busy street right near an off-licence. You notice 3 lads, whom you think are under the age of 18 on bikes staring in your direction, likely to be looking at the off licence. All of a sudden you see a woman (definitely over the age of 18) walk out of the shop, holding an item which you think might be cigarettes. One of the lads on the bikes cycles across the road to speak to the young woman. The woman gives the boy the item before walking to her car to drive off. The lad begins to cycle across the road. What w…

Question stems from a TV program I saw. Man walking down the street, fully dressed but quite clearly has a very large erection. Female member of the public comes upto you to complain - What would you do?

A recent PWITS lockup resulted in 18's being authorised for house and vehicle on drive. There was a digital safe inside...not authorised to force entry to it?? Correct? Sent from my iPhone using Police Community

Couldn't find anything after a search. A bit of a legal question here for these. who may be in the know. Police Constables all swear an oath to the monarch. They hold the office of Constable, and are servants of the crown. They are independent legal entities and operate with the power of discretion. As a constable in England and Wales do they have any power of arrest in other crown dependencies? And/or commonwealth realms whom we share the same monarch. A bit of an odd one, but just crossed my mind. Regards

I wasn't sure if this was scenario or for the England law subthread. In short, can you use evidence gained from one incident in another, entirely separate, incident? A vague example: You arrest Dave for assaulting Sam. You interview Dave and he says it was self defence, but there's good proof that Dave was the aggressor and that Sam was defending himself in this case. You then take a statement from Sam. Sam says it was self defence, but dislikes people called Dave and "If I saw a Dave in the street I would probably punch them". 2 weeks later, Sam hits an entirely different person whose name is Dave. So broadly, can you use evidence (either from a victim, witness or o…

I was thinking of beefing up the 2012 squatters law for example or making it criminal to park my car on your drive and walk away. I get no tickets for parking all day, free parking infact and if you move or interfere with my car, it's illegal and you'll get locked up. Yes you can apply to the DVLA if you can convince them you've got a claim to thr RK info (good luck), and then you have the costs associated with removal and the inconvenience of having no driveway.

Hi, new here so apologies if I am posting this in the wrong place or something like that. Basically I have a general query about what charge (if any) the CPS would bring for this " sexual offence" if it went to court, and as this forum contains serving/ex officers, and maybe also people in other legal professions such as solicitors and CPS workers, they may have the answer to my question. And just to clarify, I do know that there is an "Ask the Police" website, but I feel that I can get a better more personal "down to earth" response on a place such as this forum... Right so I just want to know, as for a situational example, if a competent male above the age of criminal…

Just one which popped into my head today after following a particular snazzed up car. You're following a car which appears to have been extensively modified from original. The rear windows are heavily tinted and various other after-market parts are fitted (which all appear legal) such as exhausts, etc. You put in a quick PNC check and the vehicle comes back okay. You stop the vehicle and speak with the driver. You notice that there is an after-market radio installed, non-standard steering wheel and when you ask about the engine size the driver tells you there is a turbo installed too! I would assume that all of these mods be legal, however, you suspect that the driver …

You ask a male for his name and address after observing him engaged in suspicous activity which he refuses to provide. You subsquently arrest him on suspicion of being a terrorist and carry out a section 32 search which wields documents confirming his name and address. As you are now able to run checks on him do you dearrest and run them, run them whilst keeping him under arrest or radio for backup to take him to custody? If you have him taken to custody do you come with him or remain at the scene?

My commute regularly takes me past through a trading estate, where they are building a new section and creating a new roundabout. The road works are controlled by temporary traffic lights and a contraflow on the main road, but there are 2 joining side roads which are not signal controlled. There are often long tailbacks (30 mins+ is not uncommon) My question is: I am in a line of traffic which proceeds on the green signal and the front car stops as the traffic lights turn red. A car from the queue behind, over takes the queuing traffic and joins in with the traffic already through the lights and proceeding through the contraflow. Is it the same offenc…
