Hi, I recently undertook a voluntary refresher course around our powers for Stops & Search, actually run by the TSG. They love stop and search, and the guys were so passionate about it. However, some of the answers they gave when I asked difficult questions, I kind of disagreed with... but to be polite I didn't really argue any further. Watts is a known criminal with previous convictions of burglary. One night Watts decides to break into a house in order to charge his mobile phone. Causing no damage, Watts enters the property armed with a knife but is disturbed by McBroom, the house owner who sees Watts. Watts then threatens to stab McBroom unless he allows Watts to charge his mobile phone. A frightened McBroom then allows Watts to charge his mobile phone before Watts finally leaves the house with his mobile phone charged up. What offences, if any, have been committed? This is a scenario from an Ambulance forum and thought it was worthy of discussion here. Scenario is you attend an address where you're met with a person who's takes an OD but is conscious. They hand you an Advanced Directive that appears genuine which states the person refuses any and all medical treatment. Paramedics turn out and whilst discussions are on going the person falls unconscious and medics refuse to step in and start treatment. What do you do? A medic involved in a similar incident was threatened with arrest under the Suivide Act by a Sgt at the scene.

Mr Smith is enjoying a quite pint on a hot day in a pub. He notices an argument emerging at a table by the window. They are consuming food and they have a baby in a pram nearby. Somehow, the matter escalates and all of a sudden people are leaning through the window hitting each other. Your walking down the street and come across a vehicle locked and secured, on a road, in a public place. On the back seat of the vehicle you notice a clear plastic bag of green vegetable matter you believe to be cannabis. All keeper enquires are a dead end and cannot locate anyone with keys to the vehicle. What do you do? Can you seize the cannabis? Do you have the power to enter the vehicle? If so how? By force? A contractor is carrying out work at a private home. They complete the work and are paid by the homeowner to the amount requested, however, the contractor forgets their mobile phone at the house. The homeowner realises this the next day, but makes no attempt to contact the contractor or return the phone, despite having numerous different ways to get in the touch with them. You attend an address were there has been a breakdown between Mother and her 13 year old daughter and a possible BOP. You attend the address and try to resolve the domestic, 13 year old no longer wants to stay with monther at her home address and packs some belongings. 13 year old refuses to tell police where she will be going. A supervisor at a grocery store has been voiding transactions and has been taking the money, but still gives the product to the customer. However when interviewed, claims that someone else has stolen money and the supervisor is trying to cover up the loss by voiding transactions. Has voided over £1000, but the money is not accounted for, and the store has lost out on groceries as well. Is this fraud by abuse of position or is this not a fraud offence?

I'll start with the usual disclaimer, this is loosely based on a real life incident which I saw in the local news A video emerges on social media of a group of youths in a disused building, formerly a religious place of worship. In the video, taken by one of the group on a smartphone, the offenders cause damage to objects, fixtures and fittings within the premises. There are no obvious comments or actions recorded on the video that make any reference towards the faith to which the premises is/was linked. The offenders are identified. You get a call from a wiki administrator to report a persistent ban evader. Are there any offences and if so what action do you take?

You attend a report to assist paramedics who were standing off from an address due to a female inside cutting her wrists. On arrival you along with the paramedics are invited in though an unlocked door by a female sat on the sofa in the living room. The female is the home owner / tennant and is the only person there appear from the paramedics and you. On her left wrist you notice some deep cuts that have bled, as well as some historical self harm scars . Poser I was asked, and it's been bugging me for days after i got left with a group of kids. Your partner is dealing with a witness, and you're left with some kids. Obviously you can't question them, but one of them says something relating to one of the 'responsible adults' is dealing while you're entertaining them. Now can you act on that information? Would you record it in the intel systems? I'm assuming that you can't, mainly because it's a kid and you're not in the company of an appropriate adult, but someone else thinks you can as he thinks it's credible information.
