On duty officer in a marked police vehicle on normally high visibility patrol see a small Renault drive past them in the oposide direction with blue flashing lights were the dipped lights should be. The main lights where on and it was past the hours of darkness. It was a 30 mph road with street lights and the vehicle was not driving dangerous. B has not been living in the house for a period of 3 weeks, as they gathered their belongings and left. There are no occupation orders in place. A & B have a domestic in which A assaults B. Discussion at my day job as a computer nerd. "Bob" is a manger. He says that if a customer states a video file is theirs, they made it, and didn't download it then staff members have to copy it as requested. This is regardless of the title of the video file. My force has recently had an HMIC inspection and as a result we have been told that crimes are being missed. One of the areas for improvement is domestic crimes. Now, the powers that be are worried saying that we are not criming enough.... So an email has been circulated saying that.... "if a victim has cause to call the police due to a domestic argument then most likely a crime has been committed in the respect of common assault WITHOUT battery".... Thought I would post a scenario to see if I can get some perspectives and thoughts. Okay, you’re a male officer working alone at a large hospital. You are called to a ward (non MH) due to a patient possibly having razor blades on them and being a self harmer. The patient has been admitted due to having chest problems. Hi all Still quite new to the force so bear with me; if I have a theft of £500-600 mobile phone reported, there's credible evidence and intelligence to support the case against a named suspect so naturally I want to go to his H/A and lift him, house search and then charge (in a perfect world). If we get to his house, I could arrest for sus theft, S32 the house and then we'd convey him to custody, interview and either RUI, NFA or Charge (if the phone isn't found I can see our skippers lean towards NFA). Details taken for a domestic referral and systems updated and sent off. The report comes back to the attending officer stating that the incident of Owen breaking the window needs to be crimed as criminal damage the home office counting rules" state that damage has been caused jointly owned property. (Owens and sams window) Agree or not? Is it a crime to damage property that is jointly owned. Could damage to jointly owned property also be classed as a civil dispute?
