1) You’re requested to attend a night club where the door staff have detained an individual for refusing a drugs search as they have suspicion the individual is carrying drugs on their person. 2) same scenario as above except the door staff have arrested the individual for Suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled substance. Keep in mind, it’s not proper for a member of the public or DS to detain, they can only make an arrest for an indictable offence. How would you act? Would you question scenario 1?

Simon who is a registered sex offender leaves his property that he has not longer moved into and walks out into his street. As he does so he overhears another resident in the street talking loudly to another saying "Look there he is, the sex offender!". Simon gets worried that his offending history has gotten out to his new neighbors and as a result may get targeted. He is also worried that this resident of the street is telling others loudly about Simon history, he gets distressed enough to call the Police to report his neighbour. So the question is, has any offences been committed by Simon's neighbour?

you're in a town centre, You see a RMP soldier on his own in uniform, he is trying to arrest a person for desertion. The person, in civilian clothes is offering passive resistance to arrest (e.g acting as deadweight), the RMP soldier is clearly struggling. this is starting to cause a bit of commotion, onlookers looked shocked. What do you do? Edit: Absent with leave may be a better example to use

Male arrested for theft/fraud offences. Basically returns goods to store (which are stolen) and gets credit for them on gift cards..rinse, repeats...ends up with LOTS of items of a similar nature which he stores at his h.a. Both he and his Mrs are locked up away from address and section 18 reveals the Aladdin caves worth of new items in bulk along with evidence of fraudulent receipts etc. Both go ‘no comment’ and investigation to continue. Heard mention of seizing items under POCA but not sure how this would result?? For instance if the thefts/frauds were nfa’d or not guilty when it is clear that these items are ‘stolen’...how does this get invoked or used....…

Two similar scenarios.... ONE. I steal my friends credit card from his wallet and then go on to use contactless at numerous local stores to ‘buy’ goods.... TWO. I find a random credit card on the street and do the same.... Assuming I keep the goods ‘purchased’ and my friend only becomes aware of my involvement a few weeks later when he sees the credit card bill (he does know it was me though based on the circs and reports the matter to police) Have I committed theft and numerous fraud offences in both sets of circumstances???

I'm not sure what to make of this... Who would have locked him up? had any laws been broken? Who would just ask him to walk away?

driver A has a policy in place for their own vehicle and is allowed to drive other vehicles. driver A’s boyfriend (B) has a vehicle but no policy at all. driver A takes B’s vehicle out fully believing he has a policy and she is covered on her own (she is not named on another policy) driver A is reported at roadside whilst driving B’s vehicle and the vehicle is seized. Can B (who wasn’t at the scene) be reported re Use, Cause, Permit offences as he allowed A to drive the vehicle and certainly gave them the impression they had a policy. two bites at the cherry???
