  1. An elderly woman, who was the victim of a distraction burglary in Turvey on Thursday (30 April), has died. Last week, at approximately 9.20pm, a man knocked on the door of a house in The Pyghtle and told the 96-year-old home owner that he had damaged her fence. While the woman went outside to speak to the man, a second man entered her house. When the woman went back into the house, the man left, locking the woman inside on his way out. The two men then left the scene. Detective Inspector Dani Fitzharris: “Tragically the victim of this cruel crime passed away on Sunday (3 May). "We are working hard to identify the two men responsible for this crime and I’m once again urgently appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information, to contact us immediately. “We will be carrying out a number of patrols in the area to provide reassurance to residents and deter others from carrying out similar offences.” Both men are described as white and aged around 16. One is described as thin and wearing a blue linen style hat and a navy t-shirt. The second is described as wearing dark clothing and a dark baseball cap. If you have any information please contact DI Fitzharris on 101 or text 07786 200 011. You can also call Crimestoppers, completely anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
