You're in a cell with another officer who is interviewing a prisoner. The officer is being quite aggressive with his style and has been repeatedly asking the prisoner the same questions after they refused to answer them. What do you do?

A business, specialising in PPI claims (and you can see where this is going), calls you. The phone number they call you on had NEVER been released to the public - it is a work phone for work purposes. The owner has never given the number to the public and has never signed up for credit using this number as a contact number. You make clear to the caller that you're not interested, that they shouldn't be calling this number and that you want the number removed from the system. They call you back, twice. On the second call back the caller admits "I'm not like the others - we have a script on screen telling us to lie to you but I don't follow it." Having made very clear t…

for the sake of this scenario, let's say that the independent observer is either an off duty officer or one in plain clothes, so that the Players aren't influenced by the Yellow Jackets! it's a regular Friday night in a relatively busy pub on the high street. A customer in the pub has obviously had a bit too much to drink and so the staff refuse to serve him any more. Instead of taking the response gracefully, he decides to get belligerent and shouts at the staff for not serving him. At this point the Manager steps in and tells the Customer that he needs to leave. when the Customer hears this he says "I'm not f***ing leaving, you're gonna have to make me!" or words t…

Hi everybody, You are out on foot patrol by yourself at night. You enter a poorly lit park and notice that a small bonfire consisting of a wheelie bin and a few pieces wood has been lit in the park. As you get closer you see that there are five males in their early teens standing around the fire wearing dark clothing and their faces lit up by the fire. How would you deal with the situation?

You are called by both a member of the public and security guards who have forcibly detained him because he won't tell them why he is photographing them or give them his name and address. Most of the guards are particularly concerned about the MOPs intentions because before their arrival the MOP was taking pictures of a female security guard on her own. The incident has occurred on a public street. You arrive on scene and ask both parties to explain their side of the story which is how you know what has happened. What do you do and why?

After a lengthy discussion with a few colleagues and friends, I thought I'd bring the topic here to get a few more opinions. We were having a discussion about what situations we felt we could justify the use of handcuffs in, and why we could justify them. I'm not sure if this topic/something similar has been done before, so I thought I'd give it a go. In what scenarios would you deem handcuffs a suitable option?

So these idiots today were apparently dressed as suicide bombers and fake police officers while riding on the London Underground. As a Police Officer what would be your initial reaction to this as some suspected it to be a real bomb before noticing it was a prank. If you had realised it was a prank as quickly as these MOPs did, how would you then handle the situation? Are any offences being committed here? Public order perhaps in the sense of visibly displaying something causing alarm and distress?

Joe has been issued a section 35 by another officer directing them to leave the area for 48 hours. A day later you see Joe in the area and have to be on the safe side you have confirmed that he is indeed in breach of a section 35 notice by checking on PNC. Joe shows you the notice and protests his innocence on the grounds that the notice was authorised by an Inspector more than 2 days before it was issued and you can see for yourself that he is telling the truth. Do you nick Joe, report him for summons or take no further action? Why?

You are dealing with a young girl when a man walking by, starts goose stepping, performs a Hitler salute towards you and sings "Deutschland Deutschland Uber Alles". You tell the guy in no uncertain terms to stop making a nuisance of himself and he stops. What do you do? Do you arrest him for a racially aggravated public order offence or do something else?

It didn't look like there were any traffic or response officers en route (you'd think that, after 40 minutes, if they were coming, they'd have been there),so, if you were witnessing this, would you intervene? If so, in what capacity? Threaten arrest if they didn't move on? http://www.northdevonjournal.co.uk/WATCH-Mercedes-drivers-block-road-40-MINUTES/story-27861116-detail/story.html

You're in custody having just arrested someone who has threatened to find where the detention officer booking him in lives and has also said that he will kill him. In retaliation the said detention officer whilst taking the prisoner to his cell has pushed him along the floor and put him in a handlock and told him to shut the **** up before announcing that if he ****ing threatens him again he will ****ing kill the little **** and that he will do it ****ing slowly. What do you do?

Just wondering what offences, if any, would apply in this situation. A family with children, two young boys approximately 7-9 years old, move into a cul-de-sac. One day whilst out playing football in the road the ball ends up in a neighbours garden. The neighbour comes out and is very aggressive, shouting at the boys for kicking the football into the garden. Although upset, a few weeks pass and the boys are out playing football again when the ball ends up in the same neighbours garden however this time the neighbour has been cooking, comes out into the garden and stabs the football with a large kitchen knife. The boys run back inside and the parents call the police. Fr…

Had a situation at work lately and was wondering how the law applies here, at my workplace, a mental health rehabilitation hospital, a colleague with the role of support worker was sent home after a dispute regarding a smoking area, as part of his role he can be delighted the task of watching over the outdoor garden section that the patients use, this area is also there smoking area. As such, his duty also involves lighting there cigarettes for them as there access to lighters is restricted, he was sent home for refusing to do his job, stating that he as a non smoker did not wish to be subject to second hand smoke and also did not want to stand outside for the allotted…

I'll start by saying I am aware of the usual disclaimer Let's imagine there is an apartment block which has its own car park. It is off the road and none of the building nor grounds is owned by the council. The car park leads onto the main road, but it has an electric gate which is protected by a code, so only the people living there know the number to get in or out. Each resident has their own parking spot which is numbered. However, someone has guests staying over and they need somewhere to keep their car - So they dump it in the car park immediately behind one of the spots which causes several other vehicles to be blocked in. In training, my understanding was that i…
