A more basic one, but just wanted some expert opinions on this one: --------------------------------------- Evening, you're on foot patrol, accompanied by another officer when you're approached by a member of the public coming out of a bar. The male MOP (A) tells you he has been punched in the face by another male (B), who he then points out. He is very upset, but entirely rational, and totally adamant to go ahead with the complaint, happy to go to court, etc. The two males do not previously know each other. There is no CCTV to verify the offence, no witnesses and the "suspect" male, when asked, says they had a crossed word over a spilled drink, but nothing more, noth…

Here a thought that I have been musing on over night There are several ''officers'' on here who work in enforcement for Local authorities. And there have been quite a few discussion about dealing with ''offenders'' asking them if they admit to dropping litter, making statement for prosecution, obstruction etc. But thus far no mention of meeting the Provisions of PACE. Which as the enforcement officers are gathering '' criminal evidence '' Clearly apply to the situation So as an opening question, when you approach them and make a formal accusation of a '' crime'' ie ''you have dropped a fag end'',should you then cautioned them, that they do not have to say anything etc'…

At no time does the TCM use physical force, raise her voice or block the males passage. So couple of questions for you, What offences (if any) does the male commit? What offences (if any) does the TCM commit? and how would you deal with the situation as the responding PC/SC?

I am anticipating this situation arises at some point in my career as a police officer and I wouldn't be too sure how to deal with it (although I am sure more would come to light after training). I would be in my local pub enjoying a pint with my dad. It is not a rowdy pub and sees many elderly gents pop in for a few beers in the evenings. Weekends get busier as there are a few youths who often visit. There are three troublesome brothers who often get stuck in to a fight with someone on weekends, 3 vs 1. Everyone is too afraid to approach and when even the biggest blokes have tried to pull them apart, before they've just been knocked down by one of the brothers while the…

A white, heavy-set male has just assaulted a woman (believed to be an ex-partner) in the city centre in full view of the public and overhead CCTV. The CCTV operator has followed the male into a nearby pub, known to police to be frequented by a number of individuals who are abusive towards police officers (only verbal, not physically), and has informed the control room. You and your partner are the only officers available to respond, you are taser trained but your partner is not. You arrive at the woman following an I grade response and find her bleeding heavily and in need of hospital treatment - an ambulance is called and arrives promptly and she is transported away. Be…

I seen an old thread about the same type of subject but its over 3 years old, so I'm reopening it since things have probably changed. So i fractured my wrist last Sunday and now I'm having surgery on Monday. Here's my scenario; I wont being doing anything for two weeks after the surgery at which time I will most likely be going back to work. After those two weeks I will still be in a cast but should still be able to use my hand in the cast. If my doctors said my wrist healed enough,, if I could shift gear whilst issue and if my insurance agreed to still cover me would I still get pulled up if an officer noticed i was in a cast? In the old thread people were mentioning …

Scenario is - police attend a house party 16-18 year olds to give words of advice regarding noise. Party goers then spill out on to the street. No direction to leave area designated. Police wish to move revellers on, some standing there in the road not necessarily causing BoP but refusing to disperse. How would you deal with this? Leave them to it? Use of force due to obstructing the highway? Any other powers?
