    Hello all. Whilst out and about last weekend, I witnessed this incident in a shop and was hoping to get your thoughts on what, if any, offences had occured. I was in a corner shop, queuing up for some fags. This "gentleman" in a cap and trackies was trying to buy a four pack of beer, which was going to cost around £5. The guy in the shop refused to serve him, as he said that he was already visably drunk and therefore didnt have to serve him. After a bit of back and forth, along the lines of "dear sir, you must be mistaken. Perhaps I could convince you to reconsider your views?" (paraphrased slightly....), the young gentleman in question snatched the beer off the count…

    Hi all, So, after arrest, you decide that you don't have grounds for a s32 (rare I know). However, on the way back to custody, you see something that gives you grounds (eg. a phone in a pocket, drugs etc.). Am I correct in thinking, that once back in the yard (not yet in custody), you can search them under s54 PACE? Specifically sub-section 6A? s54 6A: A person who is in custody at a police station or is in police detention otherwise than at a police station may at any time be searched in order to ascertain whether he has with him anything which he could use for any of the purposes specified in subsection (4)(a) above.     Emilia is a first year law student at the University of Treforest. She joined the Law Societys debating team and managed to make the final where she competed against Olivia. The subject for the final debate was an obscure subject and as such the library only contained a limited range of relevant articles.
