One I saw today got me thinking. Courier moped rider stops at an control crossroads, all ATS' are red for traffic to allow pedestrians to cross. Courier rider turned his engine off, walked his moped through the red light across the junction, over the island on the right hand junction, started the moped and rode off.... Any offences?

On my way home from work I was sat in a queue for around 30 minutes. It turned out the temporary traffic lights were broken and people had just been making a dash for it when they had the opportunity. More details: - The affected area is around 80m long with no blind spots - Traffic lights are two way - One side of traffic lights are operating fine - One side of traffic lights are stuck on red - The side stuck on red, there is a queue over two miles long congesting roundabouts and other traffic light junctions further down the road - The queue has been like this for around 40-50 minutes (I was lucky enough to get through in around 30-35 minutes) - Police are awar…

I was driving home a few weeks ago and was following a vehicle when I notied a dog run out in the road infront of the lead car. It had ran off when a small child lost grip of the lead. The vehicle infront of me stopped (wasn't even a firm stop) but did not move off. I then noticed the group with the dog (consisting of 5 middle aged/elderly ladies and once boy about 12 years of age) appearing to start to get a bit irate and it became clear there was an argument with the driver of the vehicle infront. I sat there and simply observed and then it escalated as the male (a very well built man in his late 20's) exited his vehicle and started shouting at the group, approaching…

Hi all, Bit of an odd one, a friend came across this on a student forum and we couldn't decide if there were any offences. Scenario, the chairwoman of a university equestrian team does some research on local private hire companies to find the cheapest option to ferry members to and from a riding class. One firm emails back, stating the planned journey would cost X amount of money. This was the cheapest, so it was agreed that this firm would provide the service. Upon paying for the service at the end of the journey, the passengers were charged more than the amount stated in the email. The amount requested by the driver is paid, and both parties go on their way. Have an…

So you're out and about in the NTE, and you find a chap with a small bag of white powder. He's compliant, has committed no other offences, doesn't seem likely to cause disorder, and willingly gives his details and tells you that it's cocaine. Would you arrest or report? I've heard officers say the only way to deal with Class A possession is via arrest, however I can't see it being necessary in situations such as this? Surely it'd be beneficial to all parties just to report for the offence, rather than filling up a cell at peak time.

What would you think if you came across one of these as a police officer, or saw one being used as a member of the public? http://www.heinnie.com/lansky-world-legal-knife-16994 Or alternatively, http://www.heinnie.com/crkt-edgie-self-sharpening-knife both fall within the '<3-inch, non-locking' rule, but I wonder if they would come across as somewhat threatening for a pocket knife?

Scenario: You are on patrol travelling at 35mph when you are overtaken by a 16 year old girl on her moped. You pull her over. The Moped is 2 years old, taxed, and insured 3rd party as a Moped by the RK (The Girl). An MOT is not yet needed. The girl herself has a provisional moped licence, as well as having completed a CBT course whilst displaying L plates. However, by law, the 50cc Moped she is driving needs to be limited to 31mph. And she overtook you when you were travelling at 35mph. Everything else is OK. L plates displayed. Taxed. Insured. Rider has licence. No pillion passenger. Rider wearing helmet etc. Bear in mind you don't have any approved speed equipment…

Hi All, Wondering what the actual offence would be to produce / use fake id to open a bank account? Also interested as to what the next steps of the investigation would involve with this offence...I.e straight to CID or Action Fraud? Heard this type of call over the radio a couple of times and not entirely sure of what I would need to do... Cheers

What offence would people stick someone on for if the driver allowed more than 4 passengers in the car. I.e 4 in the back and one sitting on another's lap, neither of which were wearing belts?

Provisional licence holder with valid CBT carrying pillion passenger wearing a helmet on a 50CC (Moped) is this illegal? Alternatively a full licence holder with a CBT carrying a pillion passenger on a 125CC?

Bit of a far fetched situation, however was listening to Karl Pilkington talking about conjoined twins and prison which made me think what would happen in the below situation. Your called a supermarket in regards to a shoplifting. Upon arrival your taken to the security office where you are presented to the alleged shoplifter - a conjoined twin. The security officer shows you CCTV footage of one the conjoined twins picking up several beauty products to the value of £157 and concealing them in her pocket. The other twin was fully unaware of the situation until confronted by the security officer when they had left the store. How would you handle the situation.

You and a colleague are on NTE foot patrol in the town centre, end of a cold wet week in August, 2014. It is late evening and the area is busy with members of the public, of all ages, some drinking, some not. There is a recent trend of ALS Ice bucket challenge videos circulating on social media and the wider media, if you don't know what that is… one person whilst on camera pours cold water over another persons head, all in the name of charity. As you approach a public house, lots of people around, two chaps walk up behind both you and your colleague and proceed to empty two buckets of water onto you. You turn around to see a large group of people recording and laughing. …

Video: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=777328048951225 And for those without facebook: This was up in Aberdeen, background to it was that the guy wanted his exhaust to turn white with heat, so after bouncing it off the limiter for 15 minutes it inevitably caught fire. So what offences would you be arresting for Bearing in mind its Scotland so Scottish offences would be favourable but this is scenario city, so for our English counterparts I'll let you imagine that this has taken place wherever you are. I'll start the ball rolling and was thinking Culpible and reckless fire raising...
