There's a small debate on another forum that I am a member of on who should be charged in this scenario, Who should be charged/What should the charges be I'd be interested in knowing what your own thoughts are. If possible, please keep in mind that this is a situation that happened in the US. so shooting a home intruder may hold up...

A motorway has a temporary speed limit in place set at 50mph The new limit has speed cameras set an even distance apart. You don't realise that there is a new speed limit and you get caught speeding doing 60mph three times in the space of 20 minutes on the same stretch of motorway. Would this be one offence or three individual offences of speeding?

I was thinking about this hypothetic situation today and it was a bit of a brain teaser for me, did some forum and google research but couldn’t find an answer. I must confess I am not a special but hoping to be in the position to apply in three months’ time (work/location wise), hence this seems to be a conundrum to me due to my minimal understanding of law. Anyway here it is; A minor (say 16) goes into a shop and buys a full home brew kit, goes home and a few weeks later has a couple of gallons of alcohol. As far as I know it is legal to sell the equipment, but is it legal for a minor to have four or more gallons of beer/cider? I also thought is there a duty of car…

Hello all, A question for the wise greybeards of the forum. You are called to a local taxi rank for reports of a man refusing to pay his fare. When you arrive, the man is in drink and the taxi driver states the man is refusing to pay his fare and also the man has been sick in the back of his taxi, so he has charged him an extra £40 on top of the fare as a soiling charge and indicates a sign in the taxi that points out this will be the case if you soil the taxi. The taxi driver states he will be off the road for the rest of the day now and will have to get the taxi cleaned specially to get rid of all the vomit. He says if the man is refusing to pay he is happy to make a…

Just seen this video on youtube. It starts off OK with the guy just recording the police but then he starts shouting down a megaphone and getting offensive. Could the officers not have removed him for breach of the peace here? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ_t1SQ7OSk#t=290

You are on LPT duty. You are in full uniform patrolling your ward. It's a sunny day during May. You are about to enter the local park as Intel suggests there were drug dealers dealing in the park recently. Suddenly you hear a man shouting in the park, he was on your left just out of view in the bushes, about 8 metres away. He is topless, sweating heavily and he shouts 'comon then' and rush towards you. He is holding a samurai swords using both hands and the sword is raised high. What would you do?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, wanted peoples opinions but technically it is a scenario. Today on a trip to a local supermarket, I was coming out and walking past two shoppers, stood next to the boot of their car. They were waving and making a fuss talking to what I presumed would be a child on the back seats. I then took notice the car was a ford couga - 2 seater. So there were no back seats, I therefore presumed it would be a dog cage with a dog. However this wasn't the case because of where the couple were standing I couldn't see in the boot properly, but noticed a car seat. Furthermore on reflection they were parked in a child only space and had a pram op…

Whilst on a routine patrol, you observe a male taking a photo of a car going across a junction turning right. The driver of the vehicle looks directly at the photographer whilst giving giving him the middle finger. You stop the vehicle and the driver claimed to be checking his mirror. The photographer show you the image and it can clearly been that the driver was looking past his mirror at the camera and giving the photographer the middle finger. Any offences? I was thinking driving without due care?

What would you do???

E41 intel on believed s4 MDA at said location, turn up strong smell coming from a ground floor room, someone peeks through the curtains and walks off. They then come to the door and refuse to let me in. S17 POE for indictable offence believed to be committed with reasonable believe suspect involved is inside? My sergeant it was iffy, I got co operation in the end and busted 50k's worth. Would anybody else force entry? And who would walk away and go and get an emergency warrant? Apologies for yet another weary powers of entry scenario.

So we all know about PACE regulations in relations to taking fingerprints for recordable offences bla bla bla but where does our power come from on the street, what gives us the power to take fingerprints on the street to confirm someone's ID in relation to an offence and so on? Does it come from the crime and security act 2010?

Conditions: Time: 1320 Weather: Sunny and clear Moderate density of pedestrian clusters Little noise and generally peaceful You are on patrol on a bicycle. You hear some shouting as you approach a junction with a pedestrianised high street. As you come on to the junction and gain a good view of the high street and of what is going on, there is what appears to be a hooded youth mounted on a small BMX in a fight over a bag like object with a female. At this time you are about 25 metres from them. Before you have finished to process this it has quickly escalated and the hooded youth has relinquished the bag like object from the female's grasp and is now quickly cycling o…

Two boys that were going to the mosque approach you and says 'can you move from the mosque I am taking offence from this' (NOTICE- you are outside the mosque on the public pavement-) They continue arguing with you and then they turn to the cadet and say 'me and you we can go and start a jihad, we can bomb everywhere and rule this place' what would you do? Please note this has happened to me (I am a cadet) My staff who is a PC ignored the silly questions and they soon went on their way.
