Jeeze... http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/dec/18/theresa-may-plans-put-28-day-limit-police-bail 28 days? In most half complex jobs the forensic results wont be back in 28 days... Mrs May wants 'senior officer' oversight, limp dumbs want Magistrates oversight... I fear a lot of very stressed Cops, after all who is taking away all the money that leads to a surplus of people who are able to turn things around quickly? Charge or NFA - its the way forward... I wonder if Mrs May will apply this to the Judiciary who often have people on Court bail for years?

I can't help but think, particularly having seen question time last night, that any 'tales'/rumours spread by Nigel Farage's opponents, will now start to fall on deaf ears (if that has not already started happening). I believe that his supporters will now simply see it as sour grapes/muck spreading (for want of another way of putting it). As for Russell Brand, well, the less said about him the better, although I understand that there will be many who do admire him.

Just watched the commentators digging into the Autumn statement on BBC 2. One observer stating that unprotected services (which includes the Police) collectively had £3000 per head of population in 2010. The target spend is to cut it to £1300 per head of population by 2020. Over 50% reduction. In other words there are massive further cuts going to be made. The detail will evolve from the small print no doubt in the coming days. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
