THIS Peruvian surfer has got an unusual wave riding companion — his pet ALPACA. Domingo Pianezzi has spent a decade training dogs to ride on the nose of his board. But the 44-year-old fancied a bigger challenge and has managed to coax his pet alpaca Pisco, to join him hanging ten in the Pacific. Pisco — wearing a life jacket — managed to catch three waves with his owner and cruise for a few seconds before falling into the water. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/feedarticle/8990524 Petrol prices will reach record levels this year, according to research by the AA. The organisation has warned unleaded fuel could soon cost £1.20 a litre or more and urged Chancellor Alistair Darling to delay the introduction of a planned 3p increase in petrol duty due to come in on April 1. In Stoke Newington i saw £1.17 a litre for diesel, can anyone better that?

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty. The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the "apex predator," can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and "survival of the pack mentality" bred into the canines. See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.

The Childrens Commissioner for England Dr Margaret Atkinson was on Radio 4 this morning, she wants the age of criminal responsibility raised to 12 years, and says that Thompson and Venables should never have been prosecuted for killing Jamie Bulger. She intimated that perhaps we should be like some other European countries which has the age set at 14. 99% of children that I know, of 10 years old, know the difference between right and wrong and IMHO it should stay at ten. I think we can see where Atkinson is coming from, Thompson and Venables would have had a 'pat on the head' and told, that was naughty killing Jamie, don't do the same thing again'. More woolly headed l…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8561948.stm Ed Balls doesn't have any. Balls that is. It's ok for you to lie and cheat to get your kid into the school of your choice. Well, it isn't, but there's no punishment if you do so and only get found out after your kid is in their place. So he wants 'whistleblower' phone lines to be setup, but can anybody really see the point of ringing? Great example to set your kids...........no downside to lying and cheating to get what you want...............and people wonder why the country's effed.
