The news about the Welsh Miners trapped in the Gleision Colliery in South Wales would appear to be getting worse and worse. My thoughts are with the families of those involved. Sadly three of the four have now been found dead and I just hope that the remaining miner can be found alive, although this is looking unlikely. There is a further thread created by M&MBM on the news reporting of this, but can we please keep the two threads separate. Condolences here and other discussions in the other thread.999tommo2011-09-16 15:49:18

Today is certainly full of bad news. First of all there is the news from South Wales, and then it is announced that Martin McGuiness is likely to put himself forward as Sinn Fein's candidate for Ireland's President. Sad in my view that the two anouncements are in the same breath.

Obviously 9/11 was a tragic day, thousands of innocent lives were lost including hundreds emergency service employees, predominantly firefighters. What is everybody's thoughts on 9/11? Particularly does everyone agree with the government story? I'm not necessarily suggesting or asking if you believe conspiracy theories, but what are your indididual thoughts on 9/11? Is the government's story A.OK? Or do you think there's something funny about it?

Now only the older members like myself, but I've forgotten will know what I'm going on about. It was a sort of very early Crystal Maze game without the thrills. Was shown on either BBC1-BBC2. Circa 1980's I think. possibly early 90's. The host look liked like Riff Raff out of the Rocky Horror! and the last task on the show was trying to cross a black and white tiled floor. Not forgetting the plant that was the leader of this bizarre place! Any clues

Link to Tommo's Condolence thread We wanted to keep these related topics separate. I am getting increasingly angry with the BBC News 24 coverage of the mining disaster. There's something ghoulish about the helicopter flying over the scene for a start, but what has really made me turn the TV off is the blethering cretrinous interviews the reporters are doing on the ground. They're asking questions like how will the community cope? How do people feel? It's so crass and insensitive. How do they think people feel about all of this? We want coverage, yes, but we don't need to pick over everything and weigh importance by footage time. STFU BBC and let t…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2037646/Vigilante-mother-threatened-sons-bullies-baseball-bat-school-did-help.html I am glad she has not been sent to prison. Why did the head teacher not do something about the bullying, probably because they are weak people, half the problems with bullying is that teachers are weak and fail to take action. Even the Judge appeared sympathetic.

One of our major problems is the cost of housing, which often means both parents have to work, and if you're not close to family, they can't erxactly help with child care. This comes after thre revelation that people are in debt over chaild care costs. And unemplyment has risen. But dare I susggest pone parent stay at home or just do part time work? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14899148
