I had a quick search of recent threads but couldnt find this mentioned... Basically there is currently a group operating through the social network sites raising awareness of the governments desire to keep a record of ALL email sent and recieved in the UK (sounds impossible???). The understanding is this wouldnt violate anyone's privacy as the emails would be stored under the "act's of terrorism" banner.... So this particular group has set out to create a digital protest by way of, well, cc'ing as many emails as possible to the good Mrs Malfoy herself, as far as I am aware, for one whole day next week. This is merely to help the government understand how much traffic the…

Tomorrow HM The Queen re-opens the Cutty Sark at Greenwich. I wonder if she will get it right this time? I watched the original opening in the dry dock at Greenwich when it was televised. HM stepped forward to the mike and said "I now declare the Sutty Cark open" A gentleman behind her stepped forward and whispered something in her ear. She didn't bat an eye or show any sort of recognition of the mistake. She simply said "I now declare the Cutty Sark open" A fantastic show of composure. I also wonder if she will remember it?

Just had a chuckle at some of the headlines to the right. One related to the marathon, where, not only did Surrey Police ice hockey team run, but another officer was running for the first time - I thought you chased criminals all the time. Another officer has been commended for stopping a man committing suicide by shooting himself with a shotgun - twice. Great how things have double meanings.

I'm just considering whether I can get away with being deeply offensive to Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish people, yet do so under the pretense of being very Englishly (it's a word) patriotic. No. I can't. Today is a day for all us real English men and women(no 'my grandmother was born in part of the Commonwealth so let me compete in the Olympics for the UK' types need apply) to rejoice in the victory of a (possibly) English bloke against a completely imaginary creature. Brilliant. You know when that bloke down the pub comes in and says "I caught one this big but it got away.". Yeah? St. George was like that bloke only with more 'front'. And he must have been surr…

This made me smile... Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: - Knowing when to come in out of the rain; - Why the early bird gets the worm; - Life isn't always fair; - and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing reg…

When this excuse for a human being is giving his evidence, it has been ruled that all cameras should leave court, so as not to give him the public platform that he wants. Why, however, do they give him the opportunity to give the clenched hand salute at the begining of the trial each day. Surely, that gives him the publicity platform he seeks.
