BBC news have just anounced that this guy has accepted a transfer which leads to his payment being £200,000 per week (payment, not earnings, you can't 'earn' that much). I think that is a disgusting sum when others more worthy get just a pitance in comparison.

So none of them wants goal-line technology. No. Against the spirit of the game. We don't want it. Wait. Hang on. Did England actually just win a game when they should have drawn it? Right. Goal-line technology. Got to have it. It's a must. It was all very different when we had a goal disallowed a few years back...........nobody gave a toss then...........

Late yesterday afternoon there was a commotion and unearthly noise coming from my lawn in the back garden. When I went to investigate it appeared that one of next door cats had caught a bird, it wasn't dead. The bird was badly injured and couldn't fly away and it managed to retreat to behind a drainpipe in the corner of the garden. The cat and it's mother were now taunting and clawing at the bird and feathers were occassionally flying. After looking at the bird it had some nasty injuries on it's back and was bleeding badly, a wing had lost quite an amount of feathers and it's breathing was rapid. I decided it was probably better to despatch the bird as quickly as I c…

I was taking a gander through the Staffordshire Police Facebook photo gallery and they have photos of various police raids etc, and who should crop up in Hi Vis but the Chief Constable Mick Cunningham Bottom left! Now I know you're all thinking there's nothing new here - CCs do it all the time, but this had a difference, there was not ONE reference to him or his rank in the press release attached to the photo - now that is rare! This isn't a Pete Fahy inspired "quick get the cameras out my laurels are moving more than 5 feet" affair, he's just doing the job he signed up for! Anybody else seen rank and file officers doing their bit without a press entourage?!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18475108 I realise that my knowledge of nuclear military hardware originates from a pack of Top Trumps, however......... Do bombs 'go off'? Actually, I can believe that conventional munitions can 'go off', but nuclear weapons? And even if they do 'go off' why can't they just build exact copies based on the original technology and parts? The nuclear material lasts for millenia doesn't it? From what I understand, the missiles are accurate to within a few tens of metres - but they don't need to be more accurate than that do they? So, I find myself comparing say the cost of an original LED digital watch back in the 1970s, to the cost of the…
