Whether it’s tools, electronics, or hobby gear, feel free to list it here! It wasn't that long ago that one of my posts was turned into a poll. However, after going to the Odeon and watching Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and going twice to see Skyfall, I must admit; Even although Skyfall was an outstanding movie... I'm having trouble accepting Daniel Craig as James Bond. One of my Bond-passionate friends tells me "He's the best, because he portrays Ian Fleming's original character better than anybody before, apart from Sean Connery..." But I think that it all depends on when you were born. I was born in 3rd January 1990 (Happy Birthday to me!) and my first memory of Bond is Pierce Brosnan and (even although Connery was outstanding, and Moor…

Never say never, as they say. What have you said 'never' to and ended up doing anyway? I can think of a few. Lending money. Marrying, Resigning job, Accepting promotion, Marrying, Divorcing, Finding true love, Marrying, Working for the same employer I had in the 1980's/90's. (back for the 3rd time!) Buying lottery tickets (I NEVER win!)

Please BE WARNED! Over the last month I have become a victim of a clever 'Eastern European' scam while out shopping. Simply dropping into Tescos for a bit of shopping turned out to be quite an experience. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking voluptuous 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start cleaning your windscreen, their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they'll say 'No' and instead ask you for a lift to another supermarket store, in my case, Sainsburys…

As you might have noticed, we hold a monthly (ish) photography competition which has yielded some brilliant entries and a very high standard. A common criticism of the conditions of entry is the time frame for eligibility (usually a 2/3 months of library images + the month of the competition). As such, I am proposing a Photograph of the Year competition: There is no theme, just the photograph that you think is your very best picture you have taken this year. If there is a back story (a la X Factor) then let us know this also e.g. your first born, your new wife, that sports car you've always wanted, that time you got to meet your hero, those long lens pictures of a m…

You see, it's like buses: You wait for ages (well, a few hours anyway) and then 3 come along at once. To join in with the ps.com Photograph of the Year competition: http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?/topic/133809-the-pscom-photograph-of-the-year-competition/ I am also proposing a Mobile Phone Picture of the year. Similar in structure to the PotY competition, there is no theme, it just needs to have been taken at some point, by you, on a mobile phone camera. Again, basically, the picture you are MOST PROUD OF. The rules are pretty basic: 1) The submitted photograph must be your own work. 2) Group members may only submit 1 entry to the competiti…

The return of the popular 1980s political satire will see a new cast send up the inner workings of Government more than 30 years after the show first aired. The cast of Yes, Prime Minister (left to right) Zoe Telford, David Haig, Henry Goodman and Chris Larkin Photo: PA As if the biting political satire of The Thick of It was not enough for the Government, it is soon to be lampooned by a new series of Yes, Prime Minister too. The new line-up of the highly acclaimed sitcom has been revealed, with David Haig cast in the role of fictional Prime Minister Jim Hacker. Haig straddles both TV shows, playing spin doctor Steve Fleming in the BBC’s The Thick of It. Yes, P…

Well done - this month we had 2 winners: Gaspode's Red Bauble: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8221/8289771166_53426eb806_z.jpg and Cuddle's Cat in a Santa Hat: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8351/8303724697_b85c4792b9_z.jpg There was a late vote after I checked at lunchtime which edges Cuddles into the lead, but I'm discounting that so we have a tie. We will have 2 themes for next month, so will have lots of opputunities for pics. I'll start the new comp in due course (but currently trying to move furniture around ready for removal people tomorrow)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2252675/Were-way-Britain-In-year-29-million-Romanians-Bulgarians-right-settle-Britain-claim-benefits-And-gipsy-community-hardly-wait-here.html - HMG really must pull their fingers out and put a stop to these mass migrations. This country is over populated already and there is no way it could sustain another 10 million, let alone 29. There are not enough jobs in the uk for the indigenous population let alone millions more from elsewhere. The quicker we get out of the EU, the quicker we can go back to making our own rules, and have no immigration for a period of ten years to allow the population to settle down to a sustainable 58-…

I am just into a second bout of cold/flu type symptoms, the first was about 3 weeks ago and was quite different. I don't usually get more than one good stinker of a cold or flu per year and it's usually around this time. It wears you out doesn't it? I usually take plenty of hot drinks (tea usually) and don't really bother with any 'off-the-shelf remedies'. A nice tot of malt whisky before bed I find helps too. What is your favourite remedy?
