I'm not sure this warrants its own thread but PMTTS requested some clarification on why this role requires ex ammunition technical officers/ammunition technicians and not royal engineer search personnel. Clearly the RE personnel would not be trained or experienced in neutralising an IED, it is the skills of a suitably trained ATO/AT that would be required. Any more info welcome.

HI All I am sorry if this answer is somewhere else in the forum but I cannot see anything obvious I have just been given a provisional offer for Police Constable in the Wiltshire force; I am wondered at what point in the process do you know where you will be based, I am looking at moving but I don't know when I will found out where I will be based, is this at the beginning when you are given your training date or at the end of training? If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated thanks

Hi all, Purely out of interest I'd like to hear from anyone as to what the most odd crime you've ever witnessed being committed is or the strangest situation you've been involved in as a Police Officer? I'm also interested in how you dealt with this so that I have a heads up on what to expect soon. Cheers!

Hi, so I really want to join the police, but I was wondering, after working for the Police for a fairly long time 5 years + do you still enjoy it, every shift raring to go? Do you still enjoy your job? I was also wondering, is being a senior rank i.e. Inspector all fun or is it alot of paper work and less time actually patrolling and serving the community? Thanks!

Hello all, This is my first thread so bear with me if it is in the wrong place. I was just wondering to who and in what situations any police officers would call senior Ambulance/ Fire & Rescue/ RSPCA/ HM Coastguard & Armed Forces etc, "Sir" or "Ma'am". Would you also salute if he/she is wearing pips/crowns and you have headress on? Also would you as a serving Inspector or above in the police expect junior members of Ambulance/ Fire & Rescue/ RSPCA/ HM Coastguard to salute and call you "Sir/Ma'am"? Obviously with it being the 21st Century and hardly anyone apart from police and Forces wearing hats this may all be dying out, but if anyone has any comments p…

I'm looking to apply as a special constable and was looking for information on applying as a volunteer while still working within the licenced trade. Is there a procedure to follow while applying? Would I have to change jobs to fit the Specials application or is it down to discretion?

Afternoon folks, As I was going for a run this morning I ran past some very friendly (cough cough not) local citizens of Edinburgh who blew smoke directly into the path in which I was running, wether or not it was deliberate is questionable but I just ran past and tried to clear my lungs (pardon the pun)...anyway my question is could it be seen as assault if someone lit one up infront of you and deliberately blew the smoke into your face? Obviously while we are on duty we would warn and give multiple warnings before reacting, but is there grounds under common law assault?

I am currently completing my training as a Special Constable and the company I work for is involved in employer supported policing. The store I work in is in one county and I'm completing my training in another, they are using this as a get out cause to not support me. They are being flexible with my training but any extra help would be beneficial. Does anyone know where I stand? Or had experience of this?
