Quick question for any serving SCs... Is taking out private health insurance a good idea, or is it something that is fast-tracked in the event of an injury whilst on duty in any case? I'm currently a trainee SC at present. Had a silly fall last month (non-work related), so it just made me wonder if it's worth taking out private cover, so it would be sorted out a lot sooner in any event like that. I'd hate to be off-duty for longer, owing to having to wait on the NHS waiting list.

Last night I was subject to homophoc, racial and threatening abuse on my way home from the shops. I knew one of the males who was the main instigator who was shouting all the abuse. They followed me to my home address and I called it in. One of the area officers is coming to see me this evening to collect my statement from me, but I feel that this is all going to go terribly wrong.. Any advice? I don't want to see him in the streets in my area and he knows where I live so again, I don't want him causing trouble for my family. He is well known to the area for ASB. Should I add anything to my statement about remaining anymous? PS- don't bother the forum disclaimer…

Hi again everyone, been busy, moved to a new flat in an area where most properties are council-owned). It's a maisonette property however so I share a wall with a very noisy youngster who's daily routine's unlike most normal people's. He mostly quiet for most part of the day but very nocturnal as I've seen take away deliveries arriving at his door. He has a habit of playing his ? Dub-step music soooo loud and rapping above it. On Friday night he had his music on from about 9 pm to 6 am. Another lad in the house next to ours came and stood outside our joint front lawn shouting, 'excuse me, hello?' to get his noisy youngster's attention but he blatantly ignored him. At…

I recently received a speeding fine for doing 39 in a 30 limit zone. However, the speed had just been reduced on this part of the road to 30 and there was still a small 40mph sign visible, with another which had a black bin bag taped over it. Of course, I appealed on the grounds that I was doing 39mph after passing a sign that states 40 as the limit but yet the traffic team are still willing to go to court against me. I have shown photographic evidence of the above and yet I am still going to have to go to court, taking a day out of work, and argue my case or alternatively admit I was wrong and pay £97 and go on a drivers awareness course! Am I stupid for not taki…

I was thinking, how business would merge with other companies and this benefits the end business greatly, with greater resources, larger workforce Why cant some forces merge? For example North, West and South Yorkshire. or Durham and Cleaveland. or Gwent and South Wales. Do people think it is a bad idea or just logistically impossible since the forces are so developed? Heres a map of all forces http://www.hmic.gov.uk/media/police-force-map.pdf

Hi guys, Just one i'm curious about after a recent incident on duty, I was out with a new special on a foot patrol, on the way back to the nick we were chatting to a group of guys when out of no where a MOP kicked the new special i was with in the testicles.. From behind. We hadn't seen, spoken to or knew who this male was, After getting nicked (Initially for assault on police) a few of the skippers had different opinions. A few said it was assault on police, some were saying just assault as it wasnt in the execution of our duty, Any thoughts or opinions?

I was just wondering how relaxed your force is with rules and if you can or can't do certain things on duty. Here is just a few I thought about that I wondered if you are allowed to do: Chewing gum in public Eating in public Parking on double yellow lines for non emergencies Not wearing hat in public Not wearing stab vest outside Swearing in public Wearing sunglasses Some of these yes I know are probably big no no's but I just wondered if you got caught would it be a slap on the hand or very serious. If you wouldn't mind saying the force as well if you answer Thanks Fizzypopbang Sorry if already a topic, I couldn't find it

So my colleague(s) and I were talking about what experience means to them these days. Do you think experience is the amount of years you put in? Or do you think it's to do with the level of competence and what you know? Discuss.

Hello. Can anybody recommend links that will help as reminders for the PST subjects such as control, cuffing techniques, defensive/offensive techniques, grips and holds, multi officer technicques, cuffing technicques etc. If it's on the intranet I can get to a station and access that. Assessment tomorrow and I want to remind myself. Thanks.

So it's coming up to that time of year for a well known, huge capacity music festival. I've actually never even been to a festival before, and I've not all that long been attested. Anyone had the experience of policing one? What was it like? And did you find yourself seen as an unwelcome annoyance or a source of, in their eyes, banter and entertainment?
