I was wondering who teaches and instructs on OST or DT in your force? I'm aware in many cases Officers can specialise in the instruction of the above training and deliver such to other officers, but some forces use external civilian instructors apparently. I'm wondering what the state of play is up and down the board? I'm interested in learning more on these subjects as a PCSO with a view to delivering such but at the moment the idea has been knocked back, despite their being no refresher for PCSO's in my force. I do understand there is ALOT of red tape around this.

Is anyone watching the documentary about Sheffield,it's a 3-part series. This episode seems to concentrate on Anti Social Behaviour in 2 parts of the city, the difficulty of policing both problems area's with limited resources and legislation and an uprising from residents against the police. It's all very interesting and I hope it shows the people the difficulties we face.

Here's episode 1 of a new radio show called It's a Fair Cop. I heard to it yesterday and thought everyone should have a chance at hearing it. I found it very funny. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b048nkd4

So I was watching an old episode of traffic cops I believe it's from around 2003 ish. In the episode officers were still using the old VHF radio's and the in car camera system was dubbed "state of the art". So my question is, how much has the issued equipment changed since you joined and do you think you are better equipped to deal with the job?

Hi all, Debated where to put this, but thought this is the best place! I am currently watching the Tour de France in Yorkshire!! And was looking at the red Skoda safety car, which has a red magnetic flashing light. Now I know in France they seem to have them for races, but is it actually allowed over here? I know no-one would really care, but I would like to know legally if it was actually okay. I think officially it is only the Fire and Rescue who can for scene management, but just wanted some thoughts on it! fbo194 PS if this doesn't make sense, apologies, but its late!

What do we make of this? That's a tough position to be in. Although he is struggling he doesn't seem to lose his cool, though the pressure seems to get to him eventually. Do you think deploying his baton was justified? The female copper seems more on top of things. I can't help but feel that her approach may have yielded a more positive outcome. Would be interesting to know how this ended up.

So most forces adhere to the minimum requirement of performing 200hours duty per year? (with some being more). But what does your force/area do if you don't meet them? Are they looked at on an annual or monthly basis? Will you be disciplined/UPPd/informally warned? The reason I ask is there is a lot of changes going on where I work at the moment and lack of consistency between LPAs. I am trying to what the norm is!? If you reply could you state your force and area too Thanks Tom!

Hello hope ok to ask this At my current role I had to undergo security vetting with the orange form - I don't know what level this was except it was done by Scotland Yard Initially I failed due to an iva I was 3 years into thanks to some debt I incurred for my ex Anyway on appeal I was cleared So I'm now looking at a secondment which will involve working with police and again require clearance The iva finished last dec and I have a notice of completion I'm wondering if the level of clearance will be the same as I'm worried they will fail me even though my situation has dramatically improved Ps I am not a police officer nor do I work for a police force

I have full intentions to join a force as a regular if and when recruitment opens... I know a lot of forces will only recruit from their Specials and PCSOs. I've got a couple of questions: 1. How long did you serve in the Specials before submitting an application as a regular? 2. Can Specials transfer to other forces in the country and submit an application as a regular? Thanks all

Are any of you hitting the gym between shifts? I'm a member at a local gym and try to go three or four times a week. I'm in decent shape and I'm not concerned about passing the fitness test during training. I would like to increase my upper body and core strength however... SO if anyone has a regular gym routine I'd like to hear what you do to keep in good shape for the job? Many thanks Eddy
