Yesterday following a very difficult domestic, I was working with the victim trying to arrange emergency shelter for her and her child as no family/friends close by or access to money. I confidently handed over the back page of our dash form that has multitudes of numbers on offering help. I have never before called or been witness to anyone calling these numbers and what followed was frankly embarrassing as she was passed from organisation to organisation, number to number. Often having to call back to establish correct information as the original information was wrong. This ultimately ended with the last person on the list saying they couldn't help and she would hav…

I just read an article by the BBC that Theresa May is looking into introducing new legislation against those who radicalise others. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28905776 From studying the Terrorism Act 2000 I was wondering whether its remits do not already cover some aspects of what she was talking about. This Act gave substantial powers to the police, didn't it? Except she is thinking of new powers to restrict fanatics from using social media to post or incite hatred or promote terrorism? As a cynic I wonder what actions this new Act/powers will criminalise? I don't see how fanaticism can be curbed successfully without the full co-operation of Social Media sites li…

I’m am currently a Special Constable Student and I am looking for a good set of videos which can help me digest the vast amount of information we are being given to read. I am OK with reading the materials, but I take it in much better when someone is speaking about the subject matter. Can anyone suggest a good, free, and up to date source where I can get this sort of thing?

Howdy. So I'm a current Special Constable undertaking the SC to PC process via the PLC course. I've been a Special Constable for a few years. don't get me wrong when I say I am looking forward to the experience of being a Regular however there's something at the back of my mind telling me that I'd rather stay a Special Constable [mostly due to the flexibility of going out and being your own person of sorts] Question is, do you regret being a Regular having previously been a Special Constable? - C

Hi there I'll take this post as time to introduce myself as well as ask a few questions about my future options. My name is Cameron and I'm currently studying in Scotland in High School. I'm interested in joining the police and feel it would be a good option to join with a law degree but is it really worth it or should I just apply to join straight out of school? Another option would be study law, train as a solicitor (employment law) and join as a special. Any helpful advice is appreciated and if any mods feel it necessary to move this post then please do so. Thanks CameronS999

Advice please fellows regs (or anyone with v&a). Roadcraft: It has a lot of chapters, over 250 pages. Is it simply a case of read EVERYTHING? or are there some chapters I need to focus on more than others? My force offers no advice for the pre-response course exam, so I'm a little lost. Any and all advice appreciated. Thanks

I have just gone on break to see an adult male holding a young male on the ground, i went over to find that it was a carer holding down the young man to prevent him from kicking off further. Of all the people who walked past there was only myself and two others walking past who asked what was happening to make sure everything was ok. I'm wondering why so few people tried to help, to make sure someone wasn't being mistreated. Would you have gone over to make sure everything was ok?

Saw this on YouTube - funny video - until you see a Met officer tell him to throw coke in the bin as she 'had to go somewhere quick' and couldn't take it off him. Shocking. Thoughts? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYz8dbFEQEY]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYz8dbFEQEY

I also asked about vetting and they said you dont even start vetting you until you have passed your fitness day.
