After my Dad's death I received his double barrel 10 guage shotgun which was marked P. Henderson and sons on the barrel. I had thought this was just an old cheap American made shotgun until a couple of weeks ago when my son in law examined it and found proof marks and the name (WW Greener ) under the forearm. We were surprised to find that this company which I had never heard of was still in business so I sent an email and soon received a reply from the great great grandson of the original maker which stated the shotgun was made in 1881 and the name on the barrel was actually the whaleing company the gun was made for back then. I'd be interested to know if anyone knows any locations in the UK which have the following: a dual carriageway carrying the national speed limit, where vehicles turning right enter a right turning lane before going through an intersection onto a side road, but have to, before entering the intersection, give way to vehicles entering the main road from that side road who are going through the intersection to turn right onto the main road. Hope that's clear!

About a year ago I, through family, became an honorary member of a military association after attending a black tie gala dinner that they hold every year. For a minimal cost (I forget what I paid, I think it was about £10 for membership) they send out newsletters to their members a few times a year and then invite them to the gala dinner once a year (although there was no obligation on members to go to the dinner). Soon I'll be attending a major festival as part of a team responsible for stop searches in and around the grounds of the venue. Organisation is primarily taking shape via ESIBS. We leave via arranged transport from our local police HQ. Naturally, I questioned the legality of transporting my PAVA from the locker in my station to the rally point at HQ, and the organiser has told me "Specials don't need to bring PAVA to this event". We have never had a problem with pickpockets or thieves while traveling in the U.K., however, on two separate occassions while in Barcelona I was the victim of an attempt pick pocket. They never got anything , but during the second of these incidents a lady walked up and began yelling in my face as a young man ran up behind me and tried to snatch my wallet which i had placed in my front pants pocket. I had smelled a rat and grabbed his had and took him to the ground. I thought about using more force, but i remembered where i was and let the guy run off rather than let this situation escalate. I was warned for Crown Court PM on my last shift in a set. I attended as required and after an hour or so was told that I wouldn't get on that day and had to come back the next day. The next day was a rest day and I wasn't warned for court, I told the OIC and the CPS this and they didn't really care. I called my local Fed office (as all my reps were unavailable) and they basically said tough luck, the court can do what it wants. Was I given correct advice? im wondering about the Bicycle light and reflectors regulations under the Road Traffic Act such as is it same defined as a car with blue as on my wheel i have a blue light that flashes brighter the faster i go, is it illegal? and what coluers should i avoid for my lights, my standard white ones, i get told they are pretty much a pile of poop opinions? Recently witnessed an incident where a member of the public at great personal danger entered a dual carriageway to tackle a male who was running through live traffic as a result of having consumed illegal drugs and was suffering the effects of the drugs including hallucinations believing he was being chased by demons. The MoP managed to drag the male out of the carriageway along with a door supervisor from a near by premises and both restrained the male and called police, other MoP's who witnessed the incident also called 999. Morning, I have an assessment day for the job above at Surrey police, but I have no idea what to expect! They've not given me any info on it and I'm finding it hard to get info online that is relevant - everyone talks about the 999 receivers, rather than the radio systems and police response which is what I understand this job to be, and it sounds like these are rather different positions that could be assessed differently. I am going on the basis that there will be a role play and perhaps a typing test? But if anyone could enlighten me I'd be dead appreciative as I like to be prepared. Many thanks
