Hi guys I guess this question may have been asked before but does anyone know I Police Officers in the Met get subsidised or free travel on trains? I know the BTP do but not sure about the Met. Just curious really! Matt

I am currently finishing my A-Levels in English Lit, Sport Science and Philosophy and Ethics with an idea to study Criminology, policing and forensics at either UWL or Buckinghamshire new.. This was the original plan until the joining criteria for the Metropolitan Police was changed, as of the 1st of August you now have to have lived in an MPS served area for the last 3 years. A bloke who tries on the 'Freeman of the Land' game with two Port of Dover cops ends up biting off more then he can chew, bobbies lock him up D&D and Assault Police after it all seems to get out of hand and a little too silly - the video conveniently cuts out the footage immediately before his arrest, so we don't see his behaviour before he was planted on the floor, funny, it's almost as if they didn't want to show us something. :new_sweat: Figured it's a good little video to post up as we don't often see much from the Port Forces: Part 1 (Initial stop) Part 2 (Seems to end calmly) Part 3 (Suddenly jumps to arrest, lots of shouting and screaming - NOT WORK SAFE)

I'm just watching "The Motorway: Life In The Fast Lane" on BBC2 and earlier they had a Chaplain out with Central Motorways Police wearing a police style high-vis with "Chaplain" on the back and equipped with a radio. Is this a common thing or something that happens in other forces? It is just never something I have come across and I was wondering what their role was.

I've had a staff member mention to me that after I had filled up the car that I shouldn't have used my radio whilst still on the forecourt. I had already filled up and had a P2P from the control room about a job they didn't want to give details over the air. Whilst I apologised to the staff member, I'm not sure I'd do anything differently next time. The control room needed to talk to me and it wasn't like I was in the middle of filling. I obviously couldn't just drive off and the controllers are often very busy. Has anyone had similar issues? What do you normally do?

I understand pcso's cannot transfer to another force but is it possible for them to transfer elsewhere within the constabulary to be closer to home. For an example travelling from Preston to kendal everyday would be ideal. But travelling from Preston to Carlisle is a bit far. If its possible who do you go to to request this transfer

So then, anyone intending on sitting the Sgts OSPRE in March 2015? If so, when do you intend on starting to revise? Any advice from people who did it in years previously also welcome!

Hi folks, I have been doing quite a lot of travelling this month to Europe and the Channel Islands. A question occurred to me whilst going through the airport and the channel tunnel, at what point are you in England and Wales for the purposes of being a constable? Is it when the wheels of the plane touch the tarmac? Is it once you are through passport control? Thanks

Hi all, not posted in a while but recently have come into contact with my local force (I'm BTP) more and more and have seen a worrying trend where their officers are searching people for ID PRIOR to arrest or even telling them they're detained. Big no no in my book, complete abuse of power much like getting "hands on" with people before telling them "you are detained" Just wondered if anyone else had seen this? PS: Don't even get me started on not saying GOWISELY before a search!
