Basically the link below states a case where magistrates didn't convict a motorise of speeding because although the s172 form was completed with the name of the driver, it was not signed and so the magistrates found it inadmissible. There is no requirement for the registered keeper to sign the form. What does everyone think about this? I suppose this would be applicable for all s172 requests? http://governmentauctionsuk.com/auction-guide-details/speed-camera-loophole-exposed/1551?guide_type=motoring

I'm an ex reg Met officer with 11 years service. I am in the process of signing up as a Special in a County force. Whilst undergoing the fitness test and DNA/biometrics, a number of specials were cutting about with medal ribbons on their shirts. This was never a policy in the Met as ribbons were only worn on our tunics. Is this a Specials/County thing? Or is it just people showing off?

I am due to start training as a dispatcher soon, and I would love to hear some stories where a dispatcher could have done his job better. How could I aim to become a relied upon Dispatcher, to assist you guys on the ground? Thanks :-)

All, If you rebail someone to a certain date and time does it require authority to change the time from say 3pm until 4:30pm? thus allowing the OIC to be flexible on the amendment of times?

)In their latest prank they decided to imitate gun shots with fireworks. What offences are committed? And is the use of firecrackers prohibited? I was under the impression that they were.

http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/hansard/commons/todays-commons-debates/read/unknown/174/ Having 136 powers in dwellings certainly would be helpful from my experience but there still aren't the NHS resources on the backend. On another note, the police parliamentary scheme seems like a pretty good idea.

Hi all Odd question, but anyone able to point me at any specific guidance relating to being a special and being pregnant? I.e. any restrictions etc other than being placed on light duties... Basically I'm trying to see if Specials are treated any differently to regular officers who are pregnant... Thanks!

Because I like war stories and because it's all gone wrong when you've pressed your orange button I thought I'd start a thread about emergency button activations. That said, I know it is thankfully rare to do so: I've been a PC for nearly 5 years (and a special before that for 7 months) and I have only pressed mine 3 times. Tell us about your emer activations! Here are mine: 1.) I was called to a flat where someone had said that they were being held hostage and beaten up. I responded with my colleague in the area car. Another unit had turned up before us and were already forcing entry to the premises. The stairwell to the block of flats was glass and we could clearly se…

I enquired today with HR to see if i could attend the next set of assesment days as recruitment is still open. They said they dont know of planned future assesment days and if i would like to withdraw my application. I said no initially, but does anyone know if i did withdraw my app at this stage, could i resubmit my app straight away with a view to being s…

My S/Sgt has recently mentioned that we have some Police bicycles sitting around at the station which don't get used (surprise, surprise) and that he was wondering if people would be interested on going on a course to be able to ride the bikes... anyway I was just posting really to see if anyone had any experience of using bicycles for patrol, whether they are worthwhile or more of a hindrance than a help, and peoples general conception of them?

Can anyone point me in the direction of the "Unlawful Detention" law please. Ive tried google and can only find the charging guidelines - looking for the specifics of the offence. Dont worry about the disclaimer, its for a discussion on another forum where someone is arguing that a Tesco security guard asking someone to go with them to a back room is unlawful detention.
