With slightly different laws on either side of the border for a few things, I've always wondered how it works if the police want someone in Scotland for something where the law is different in England. What happens if they chase across the border or if they find out the person is now living over the border? This has become more of a question now that the drink drive limit has been lowered in Scotland. What happens if the Scottish police are following someone they suspect has been drink diriving in the border area and once that person realises the police are behind them they head for the border and don't stop until they're over it. As mentioned in an earlier post, I am due to appear at the local magistrates court in early January, on shoplifting and Cannabis possession charges. I took the Cannabis for pain relief from my chronic Osteoarthritis and was incensed that it isn't allowed to be used for such a purpose. As a result of this, I went on a spree of writing pro Cannabis legalisation slogans around the local area. When I confessed to the PC dealing with the original charges, that I had taken more stuff (which I was later given a PND for but on charge of Wasting police time) I also mentioned about the graffiti, with details of what and where it was done. I understand we and the general public have no expectation of privacy in a public place but can't find the legislation that prevents us being put on the like of YouTube, FaceBook and LiveLeak amongst other social media sites when we are video'd in the course of our duties. As much as I have nothing to hide when doing my job I don't want to be on social media and subject to the comments seen below the videos. Reason is faith might be lost in the service we provide if people read the comments and have their opinions swayed. Can videos be removed from sites if there are no offences being committed by the uploader?

Hi there, just wondering if anyone can clarify something for me, when considering robbery and use of force; where force is used immediately before hand I know there needs to be an unbroken chain of events between the force and theft. What if like to know is how long that period can be (provided the chain isn't broken) and which big of law covers it? Any help you can provide is much appreciated!

Hello, Would it be legal to fit a yellow LED strobe light in the back window of a personal vehicle for the purposes of higher visibility/safety in addition to the regular hazard lights? For example if you broke down on a dual carriageway and found yourself stopped in an unsafe location in pitch black with cars wizzing past you at 70mph. I'm not planning on fitting these lights I'm just curious as to how police officers would react to seeing this and if it is illegal or legal. The reason I ask is because I stumbled upon Amazon reviews of yellow flashing lights and people were commenting that they had used these lights for the purposes of increased viability and safety. …

Hi, Could do with a bit of advice, about the length of time it generally takes for the CPS, to decide whether to prosecute someone for an offence (or not) Posted about a month ago, concerning confessing to shoplifting offences. Have been told that the Sergeant in charge, at the local police station. has gathered evidence from the shops involved and sent the file to CPS w/c 23/11. Considering that I am not disputing that I committed these crimes, does it not seem to be taking the CPS a long time, to come to their decision? Having never been in this position before, I have no idea how long it normally takes! Any advice from those of you 'in the know' would be welcomed…

Hi all I'm new to the forum and specifically want to know what, if any laws have been broken, or potentially could have been broken in the following siuation. Last week we took a group of scouts shelter building in nearby local woodland. The scouts were encouraged to bring legal pocket knives (non locking, less than 3 inch blade) for the purposes of cutting string, stripping bark, making notches etc.etc. i.e. using the pocket knife as a tool in the correct way. During the session, one of the scouts (scout1) started to chase another (scout2) with his pocket knife in his hand with the blade in the open position, joking that he was going to "get him". So I've look everywhere to help my friend out and she's just in a state, anyway my friend works in s grotto and basically she nearly stole a toy from the grotto. She didn't know she unwrapped it and took it out of the packaging. She put it back as soon as she knew, she's the type of person that would never do this. In the place the grotto is there's loads of cctv can the employer get her arrested even though because of the situation
