I came across two new proposed laws in the Criminal Justice and Courts Bill. Remember that it is still only a bill and the provisions may not be enacted but as the legislation is being reviewed by the Lords (i.e. the last stage) it is very likely these provisions will receive Royal Assent. Around three weeks ago I was involved in a unfortunate car accident. While driving my van home from work, The rear of the van lost all traction and began to slide down the road. Attempting to gain control of the vehicle I caught a edge of a raised bank and in-turn the vehicle rotated on it's side. Nobody else was involved and I sustained no injures at all (I was honestly going approx 30mph. I am seeking some more insight on an issue I am suffering with neighbours in the next door flat that has result in my being issued with a PIN/HW. I am the co-owner of the building and its co-manager with another owner (freeholder - small block of flats) and own my flat. The next door flat is rented out by its owner to 3 young women, (in 2 bedrooms, so over-occupied anyway). Last week I ordered a new laptop (courtesy of the insurance company after an unfortunate milk based accident). The package was delivered and I found that the company sent me not only my new laptop but another identical one as well. I immediately contacted them and the spare one has been couriered back to them. To be honest, it never occurred to me to do anything but tell them, however if I had kept shtum, what offence would I have committed? (apart from being a totally immoral scuzz bucket).

Have to say, I was treated as if it was a hotel and the officers all of them were very nice. Can I ask a question or is it the wrong time at the moment.

The other day I was bored at work at happened to come across this company which offer courses on response driving and using blue lights. Now I've always been a bit dubious of these companies but can see how the can legally operate and the need for them from fire and ambulance (eg our fire brigade use our police force to train them). Today I stopped by Costco to pick up a box of sweets with my 8-year old daughter. I tried to pay at my sweets at the optical counter but was told they changed their policy and customers can no longer purchase warehouse items there. So off we went to join the huge lines of trolleys packed with items. Having queued for an eternity to pay for my one item, the cashier forgot to hand me my receipt. What powers do Scottish Officers have when in E&W?

Something that would be interested in is people's opinion on is the use of restraints during a house search for persons who have not been arrested. Personally I am doubtful that its legal - this is in terms of making everyone sit in a room and cuffing them (when they are not the person who you have gone there to arrest) as surely you have de-facto arrested them by such. However a lot of my ex-police colleagues take the view that on a risk and H&S pov until the situation is fully under control that its appropriate to do it - not in all circs but if there are persons in the house with warnings etc. Obviously some of this links back to the tragic murder of DC Stephen Oak…

So the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 states this - I use this all the time to tackle alcohol related ASB. I'm a bit confused, is there something replacing it (cant find it if there is) or are people just allowed to drink alcohol anywhere now?
