I'm not sure if this should be in Scenario City or It's the Law, so sorry if it's in the wrong place :new_yummy: I’ve just been reading in the News section about the man who was sent to jail because his dog attacked the police, and this got me wondering... Jim has a dog. A guard dog. He owns it legally and it is not a banned breed. Early one morning the Police turn up and kick Jim’s door through as they have a warrant to search his house for drugs. The dog is much more alert than Jim, so is up and about much faster after hearing the noise. The dog runs down the stairs and sinks his teeth into the first officer it sees, followed seconds later by Jim who immediately calls…

Mr Roberts lives just off a national speed limit single carriageway road and is so fed up with vehicles, mostly the hgv's, speeding past the end of his driveway. So to slow them down he has taken to standing at the end of his drive with a high vis jacket and huge torch pretending to use it as a speed camera. As this is nt working as well as he'd like he has become irritated and try's to slow vehicles down by standing in the road waving his arm and may have made gestures at some of the drivers. At one point Mr Roberts gets so annoyed he gets into his car and follows one driver to confront him. So has Mr Roberts committed any offences?

Hi All, This hasn't happened to me but as work tends to be boring my mind was wandering. You are on town centre patrol, just walking around and then someone comes up behind you and knocks your custodian off. Now obviously the first thought is to empty a can of pava with one hand whilst simultaneously beating "red zones" with your ASP with the other. (Sense the sarcasm) But what offence have they actually commited assuming the person who has knockd off the hat is not drunk. Thoughts?

I see this on a regular basis and always wonder how you are supposed to tackle it. It is 5pm on a Friday evening. You are out on patrol and you've just pulled out of a junction, you are in a marked police car traveling down a clearly posted 40mph road, you see other cars on the road up ahead of you traveling the same direction (roughly 5-6 cars all in a row.) All of the cars are in front of you are traveling in excess of 50mph. How do you deal with this? Do you ignore it and carry on minding your own business doing 40 mph? - keeping in mind that you have cars behind you that can see you've just let those cars go off speeding. Do you pull the person at the front of the…

So this scenario happens to me quite a lot and I was wondering what people would do in the situation. (Sorry if this has been asked before) 'You are cycling along the road and what to turn right. You signal with plenty of time with your hand. You look behind then as you start to pull out to the centre/right hand side of the road to turn right at the junction. The car behind you then pulls out to overtake you in the process of you turning right, nearly causing a head-on RTC with a car coming the other way and also nearly killing you on your bike. You are still moving forward and miss the turn because of this idiot and because you had one hand signalling you can't stop ins…

Having a discussion at work with regards to Gift Vouchers and when companies go into administration, for example HMV. Now I'd like to hear how you would deal with a situation whereby you have bought a Gift Voucher valued at, for example £20. However Gift Vouchers are no longer being accepted due to the company going into administration. So you go up to the till with a DVD valued at £20 and your Gift Voucher with a credit balance of £20. The till user refuses to accept the Gift Voucher so you explain that there is £20 on it, leave it on the till and walk out with the DVD. Is this theft?

Here a true little scenario a friend of mine is currently going through, what would you do? Here goes: Bill visits a swanky cocktail bar on a cold winters night, he is wearing a very expensive winter coat. Bill realises that he will be too warm within the bar and discovers they have a cloak room and decides to check the coat for a fee. He signs a slip for his coat and it is taken from him, he leaves an iPod engraved with his name & address as well as a program for an event he recently attended in the pockets. Bill drinks his fill and eventually decides to leave, he goes to collect his coat from the cloakroom. Upon asking for his jacket the attendant asks for a sli…

So I've been watching many famous YouTube clips about filming and the law. But my question is. Police that are being filmed with TV Crews can film what ever and who ever they want, if you ask not to be filmed your are told to ignore the camera. Although if you complain to Ofcom you can get your face blurred out, but again they don't have to? Yet when you're stopped by an officer and told to put the camera away as they wish not to be filmed. Ok, I guess if they asked nicely and being polite I would turn it away. But behaviour like this does really annoy me, some officers I've seen in the videos seem to (i believe) just over step the mark with their powers. (from an obs…

I've just finished a tv marathon whilst programming my new website (haven't been to sleep yet either!) last night and the following thoughts came to my head as what ifs - sorry if this isn't the right place for this. How do TV programs such as The Bill and Casualty and such use marked up/blue light emergency vehicles on what look like Public roads? Would they of had to request special permission to be able to use them? What happens to other road users at the time if they were by chance driving through the area and was passed by a speeding vehicle with blues on? I'm guessing the roads/area hasn't been closed off as on older series of The Bill (where they have the old-old…

So, I sometimes go and pick up my brother from school and normally park in the same place, just behind a marked bus stop. The bus stop is fairly large to allow two buses to be able to stop and not block the main road (that would cause chaos!) The stop is clearly marked on the road and also has 'No stopping except buses' signs all the way down. Much to my disbelief (and frustration) it is guaranteed that somebody will park infront of me every time I go, despite the numerous markings. When they do park in the bus stop they are stopping the buses from pulling in safely away from the road (bearing in mind theres loads of school kids attempting to cross infront and behind of …

So, I seem to be in the mood for traffic scenarios this month! Another one for you to consider….. You’re on foot patrol with a new officer – they’ve only done a few shifts so far (still single digits) and are obviously quite some way off being independent patrol. You know they can work well with supervision, but they are still learning the basics and they need guidance from you, an experienced officer, to build their knowledge and to make sure everything is done correctly. You are asked to attend an I grade PI RTC – pedestrian vs bus. It’s Saturday afternoon and the road is a busy trunk road heading in/out of the centre of town. You’re told the accident happened outside…

I was watching Night Cops just now and there was a fella who was with a carnival group that was in town. He'd been kicked out of a pub earlier in the evening and was apparently making a nuisance of himself at the fairground associated with the carnival. The Police had been called to the fairground where the man was being quite the gentleman with them. The parents and fairground security assured Police they'd be called back in 10 minutes because the the man would be interfering with rides and such, the Police weren't sure how to react having not witnessed a crime. The parents of the man were adamant that he be arrested and released in the morning where they would take him…
