Hi all. I am of the understanding that Specials are not normally trained to drive to grade 1 calls. However what about this scenario. You are out in the car driving patrol. You hear an officer needs urgent assistance call. You are the only officer available in the immediate location. How do you respond? Drive within the limits with no lights and siren as per guidelines or as quick as is afe with lights and siren? Sorry if this has been asked before or seems like a daft question. In some areas up here in Scotland you may be the only fellow officer available who can help.

First of all I shall set the scene. It was a sunny day, the wind whistled through the trees.... Seriously now though...... There is about a 5 mile stretch of road between two roundabouts. The road is a single carriage way A road, and uses the National Speed Limit. On this road there has been a fairly serious RTC, and you are told to go single crewed to close off the road at one of the roundabouts. As you arrive at the roundabout, you learn that the casualties have just been taken to hospital, and one has potentially life threatening injuries and thus an investigation is taking place. You park your marked car across the entrance of the road on the roundabout. Y…

Im currently in training to be a special constable. I noticed that one of my classmates carries large rizzla papers. Probably nothing, but it got me thinking. After id finished training (and before as a good citizen) Id have to do something if i had reason to suspect he was in possesion of cannabis. What do you think would be the best course of action if this happened? And have you ever been in a position where you believed a colleague/classmate had committed an offence? If it would be a conflict of interest and safety issue to confront directly would you call it in or consider informing your boss /teacher first?

I've just saw this on New Police Interceptors. They are called to an incident where a lady, around 50 years old, has rolled her car on black ice and it has turned on to its side (driver's side up). The car has caught fire and she is reportedly trapped inside, suspended by her safety belt which she is unable to release. 999 operators have told her to use a window but her windows are electric and she is unable to break them. As the car has rolled driver's side up, the woman doesn't have the strength to push the driver's door up to escape. Upon arrival, the car is engulfed in flames. You are the first on scene along with an ambulance crew. The fire service is still 5-10 m…

Police have received several calls about a noise disturbance from residents who live near a public park. Upon arriving, you find several young adults (aged 16-20 for this scenario) who are being loud whilst socialising. You find that they have started a fire on the ground and have taken proper precautions to ensure it doesn't spread, i.e. used stones to create a "break" and are not overdoing it with putting materials on to burn. Can they be arrested for anything... I don't think it is Arson specifically but it is a public place and damage could/ would be caused to the area of ground.

Haven't posted on here for a while!! Heard about an incident that didn't sound quite right to me, so just wanted to get some expert views! A victim called the police and claimed they were assaulted by a nurse at hospital. Their story was that they had gone to A@E with an injury and was quite distressed, and amongst other complaints of mistreatment by the hospital staff, at one point a nurse applied pressure to their clavicle which lead to the complaint of assault. The victim couldn't understand why the nurse had done this, didn't get a satisfactory response from the hospital so had called the police. The investigating officer spoke to the hospital manager who said they…

A constable finds a man who is drunk and incapable of looking after himself in a neighbour's garden. Te officer should arrest the man and take him to the police station for his own safety. True or false? I think false as its not a public place...

Evening all. Has anybody ever had any instances of when a MOP has stated they wish to be dealt with by a reg rather than a SC? Just curious that's all. HD

Laying down the foundation for the scenario. Person A (working for Company A) & Person B (working for Company B) work on a retail park owned by Company C. Person A works for a security company which has a contract with Company C. Person B works for another (non-security) company which has a contract with Company C, Person B is new to both Company B and the retail park. After a few weeks Person A makes a few off hand comments about Person B to other people and in front of him, which Person B shrugs off, no big deal. Person B then is informed that Person A has watched him using the CCTV system installed on the retail park for a significant amount of time, with no r…

Sorry about this, someone most probably has had a thread on speeding before in Scenario City, but I couldn't find my exact question in search. It annoys me to see someone speeding so excessively that it puts them and other people in danger. I think that only Road Policing Unit vehicles can pull you over, as they have the equipment in their vehicles such as VASCAR or a calibrated speedo. Am I right in thinking this? Basically the question is what exactly can non road policing unit officers do if for example they see a vehicle that is obviously speeding and causing a danger?

This happened the other day, and I'm interested if there are any other courses of action I can pursue or if there's an angle I can look at: JONES is a pensioner who lives on his own. JONES goes to a high street money lending service and asks to borrow an amount of cash. He is credit checked and allowed to borrow the money. Whilst JONES is talking to the cashier, SMITH, he mentions that he is borrowing the money to pay for a 'government fee' which SMITH considers suspicious. SMITH talks at length to JONES and discovers that JONES believes that he has won a large amount of money in 2(!) foreign lotteries and that the money he is looking to borrow is to pay fees as th…

Hi, Take a man walking down the street, you stop search him (assume you had grounds) and you find him in possession of stamps and envelopes. If you had a genuine belief that he was using these to post himself items stolen from house burglaries, could you arrest him for going equipped? Or what about if there was some quality reliable intelligence that this is how burglars are operating in the area. Thanks!

SCENARIO: You are on duty walking along the street, doing a general patrol. Someone walks up to to and manages to "pickpocket" your baton from its pouch (I know they are fastened but play along), what is your response? Inspiration for scenario - Thread called "Knocking off of Custodian" by C1990.

This is possible but after talking to various people i'm not sure what the best outcome would be, Serving as a SC with the Met and live in surrey, Whilst working in retail you catch someone stealing, As a SC you are entitled to stop and search with grounds etc, What would you do in this situation; Detain & Stop and search Detain and call the local force Search and if stolen property found, arrest Which would you say would be the best to do in this situation?
