Just a question for you: A constable riding his/her motorcycle home, notices a driver using his/her mobile phone. What would be their best course of action? Thanks Andy

You are asked to attend an address on an non urgent responce, you turn up at the HA meet by a male in his 50s, you sit down with him and he tells you about a catalogue of abuse that happend to him as a child and Teenager by his older brother, he has desided to come forward due to the Jimmy Savile news and that how so many who were hurt have managed to get the guts to come forward. He states that there was nothing sexal but beatings, bullying, a bloody nose, a slashing with glass down an arm, attacked by a vacuum and had his head smashed into a mirror, The reason he never said anything before was due to not upsetting the family and not being believed, the brother is very …

Can you issue a Hort/1 without a nominated station? Last week I issued a non-endorseable FPN to a 'highly indignant' driver who thought I should be out catching murderers and rapists. Our tickets include a producer section, which I completed for the usual documents. The driver, despite begrudgingly agreeing to accept a ticket, then refused to nominate a police station at which to produce his documents. There followed a protracted discussion as to whether or not he commits an offence by failing to produce his paperwork at the roadside, announcements that he would be calling his lawyers the next morning to clarify whether he needs to nominate a station, point blank refu…

Those of you that go to nightclubs in London will be able to relate to this scenario: There is a queue of customers to a nightclub, all with pre-paid entry tickets. The door staff, however, begin randomly siphoning out males, mostly those in groups without many females, who reach the front of the queue and make them leave the queue and stand to one side. The purpose of this is to improve the male/female ratio inside the club and those taken out of the queue are not drunk/aggressive etc., or have any other reason to be taken out of the queue. The door staff will then let some of the waiting males back in over the next 20-30+ minutes at fairly regular intervals. Is any of…

Long and short of it, will update with further details when i get them. SC draws asp inside his parents home, 'playing about' with it, racking it up etc. Does this several times, final time racking it and walks towards a family member, who perceives this as an assault about to take place, then proceeds to threaten arrest etc. could be an assault, only debatable point is inside family home/private dwelling?

A scenario given to me by my neighbour who is a serving officer just to rattle my brains You're out painting your fence and 2 young lads (clearly under 18) approach you. They ask you if you want to buy some tobacco for £5 per pack, but politely refuse as you don't smoke. Suspicions are raised as the lads have a cockney accent, and appear very young, however you let them on their way. A little later, your neighbour approaches you regarding the 2 lads and informs you that they believe the tobacco isn't genuine. They said they bought a pack, and the tobacco was moist. They asked for a refund, which was given. The neighbour also explains that others that have bought it sa…

Okay, I know this would not likely happen but here it goes A MOP is looking out his window at a Lone police officer getting beaten up by 4 people, The mop goes and receives his pellet gun and shouts at the gang saying "Stop or i'll shoot" The mop is out of his house and walking towards them. The gang do not realise it's a pellet gun and run off. Would there be any offences for the mop saving the officer from being beaten or would he be let off? As I have said this is a really unlikely event to happen, But just wondering. Edit: Like Would he be done for carrying the pellet gun out in public but it saved the Police officer?

Just a quick what would you do; You're on mobile patrol and see an extremely intoxicated female being put into a cab. She throws up and falls over and cab refuses to take them and drives off. You ask if she's alright and the guy says yes he's her friend he's just taking her home. You ask him what her name is and he stutters and makes you repeat yourself 4 times pretending not to have heard the question. He then tells you she's called Sarah. Your colleague speaks with the woman and ascertains from ID her name is Amy. She is a tourist on holiday and has been out clubbing that night. Amy tells you that someone has made her take drugs that night and she doesn't know who th…

Here's one I thought of this morning while cycling to work. You're going along, within speed limits, clear day, reflectors on etc etc.. and a pedestrian walks out into the road attempting to cross (not at lights or a pedestrian crossing) They cause you to fall off your bike and break your arm. When you speak to them they refuse to give any details and want to leave ASAFP (The "F" is Feasibly) You want details because obviously it was their fault and you're going to be off work for time. Could you arrest them under sec. 20 Offenses against the person act 1861 for maliciously causing GBH? Would there be a better solution? In this scenario you are able to effect an ar…

It's 9am in the morning at the home of an off duty Police Officer. His brother has several warnings for violent, drugs, weapons... There is shouting heard from inside the premises and sounds of things being smashed. The OD Officer goes downstairs to assess the situation, enters the kitchen and the brother follows in behind and stands behind him and says: "WHY DID YOU TELL DAD I WAS SMASHING THINGS UP." The OD officer replies: "YOU CLEARLY ARE!". The brother becomes aggressive, threatening and hostile. The OD officers says: "YOU'RE PATHETIC." to which the brother becomes more aggressive, threatening and tries to hit the OD officer. The OD officers calls 999 and pu…

Hi guys, just wanted peoples opinions.. Last night my colleague and I (another specials) got a call from the town link radio to suggest that a female was "hammered" with her young child arguing with a male in the local supermarket. When we arrived on scene she was stood in the car park with just the young child, no male to be seen. We asked the female was she okay and spoke to her for a while and the little boy too, I could tell she had had a drink and also openly admitted to having a 2 pints. After speaking to the female for a while and after doing various checks it came to light she was staying in a womens refugee. We left the female to go on her way, as neither he…

You are on duty outside an important government building, when a high ranking civilian who works in the building tries to exit through the gate you are guarding. The individual is pushing a bicycle, however, you have been informed that under no circumstances can anyone push a bicycle through this gate - this is a really important building and it's been attacked by terrorists before, so there's no messing around with the rules here. There is another exit that this person can use, however when you tell him this he becomes abusive. "best to learn your f-ing place! You don't run this government! Let me through you f-ing pleb!" There are a lot of members of the public watch…

You are on patrol one night, and see a car coming towards you with a flashing white bicycle light (torch style) either stuck to the car bonnet or on the dashboard, facing out the windscreen. Is the driver commiting an offence, as cycles are obviously allowed flashing lighting to the front, so is a motor vehicle too? And also, as emergency vehicles have flashing headlights, again, are MOP motor vehicles allowed these?
