All, I experienced my first taste of driving like a lunatic with an ex-traffic officer on Saturday night. We were driving around casually in a Corsa, patrolling in line with a pro-active tasking related to Burglaries around the LPA. We decide that the estate we had been on is now boring, and instead, we decide to head elsewhere. As the Control Room Operator sees us leave the estate, the unthinkable happens, and we're taken off tasking for none other than a loud party. However... As we make towards, taking our time like, some nutter in a BMW dangerously overtakes us coming off of a roundabout. This guy is driving like a proper idiot, and save overtaking us dangerously, g…

Hi I would like to report a real theft. I had a load of medals on this forum in my profile and they have all gone. Someone has taken them. Medals can have a large resale value so keep your eyes peeled please. Just logged on to get my 10 year service medal to this website and someone's nicked my others. Tsk. Roger and out.

You're walking around in town, off-duty and on your own, it's a sunny day (next joke) and you see three youths (male) walk past a group of girls who are with their parents (mums) - the three male youths begin to verbally assault and abuse the girls and their parents and almost block them from walking at their normal pace of speed - one of them even attempts to grab at one of the girls shopping bags - you observe them do this for a good full 60 seconds and can see the girls & parents become increasingly distressed - no one else is assisting the girls. What do you do? Carry on with your day, call 101 or approach the boys and reveal you're a Police Officer (or not) in h…

Hey there, Lets say you are shopping with a friend and all of a sudden they slip a handful of items into their bag. After pleading with them and telling them to put them back, they refuse and say "oh it will be okay". So you explain you are a special constable, one reason why they cant - for your (my/viewers) sake; you explain its illegal and unethical but they do not put it back. You have been seen by the staff walking with your friend and you begin to look guilty as you know what has happened. What would you do?

Evening all, This is a purely hypothetical situation - just wanted your input in order to satisfy my own curiosity to be honest! What would happen if someone was arrested, had no form of ID on them, did not show up on any fingerprint device, and generally did not say anything whatsoever? Would there fingerprints / photograph be taken and filed under some sort of alias name? After all, this person does not have to say anything... Would they go through the legal system as a 'Joe Bloggs'? I suppose it also has implications in custody if they refuse to answer any of the custody sgt's questions - any medication, ailments etc? Cheers

You're in a taxi (off duty) and the taxi driver gets his phone out at a red light. What do you do?

Ok here's the situation... You are a Special and are off duty. You come to some traffic and pull up along side another car. You glance over and, surprise surprise, the driver is on their phone. What would you do/what can you do? Regards Mike

OK. So you're walking down the street and you see a rather large man snatch a purse. After a short chase you manage to grab hold of him, and he starts behaving violently. You shout "I'm a police officer, get on the floor" and he quickly becomes compliant and you manage to pin him until the police arrive. Problem is you aren't actually a police officer. How do you think the arresting officer would deal with you once they found you'd lied about being a police officer but did so to avoid harm to yourself? Would this be NFA or would you end up in quite a bit of hot water for Walting? (By the way I'm not advocating this behaviour. Its based on a conversation I had with a sp…

The scene is a small close which is just a single road, multiple cars either side of that road and a sign saying no ball games allowed. Persons are playing football on the road which happens to on multiple occasions be kicked into a car. Wondering what this looks like in the legal eye.

Hey guys! I thought I would post a few scenarios out there! I dont know if there is an official answer to these, I start training this friday (2 days!). And as ever im sure, the situation is variable with rules as to what you would do, so i think these could be interesting to see! 1) You and your partner are driving to a 999 call where someones life is in danger, theif at night with a knife. However, enroute you pass a boy (about 12 years old) being beaten by 4 drunken teens, they do not run at the sight of your blues. You are the nearest unit to the 999 call and the event taking place, and no other units have been called to the 999 scene. Do you carry on to the 999 or s…

A secondary school has had problems with a small number of students making a nuisance of themselves (mostly by swearing) outside a primary school just up the road. These problems have taken place at home time when students are walking past. The problems recently culminated in 3 or 4 students having a fight outside the primary school. Following this, the headteacher of the secondary school has banned all of their students from walking past the primary school on their way home and told staff to actively enforce this. As a result, all of the students at the secondary school must now make their way home avoiding the primary school. Does the headteacher have the authority to …

Yesterday on my way to work, another car was pulling into my road, so I was safe and clear from other cars to pull out. All the traffic stopped behind the turning car, other than one impatient young moped rider, who pulled into the middle off the road, over took the turning car and didn't see me until he was INCHES away from my car. I think he's probably learnt from that stupid manoeuvre, from how hard he had to slam on his breaks, which made him skid. We were literally faced, to face, by about an inch by the time he stopped. I was pretty shaken up and really thought to myself, what would happen if he hadn't of been as lucky with his ability to stop and was seriously or …

Recently I attended a bar where a man and woman had been ejected for drunkeness. The woman was violent and assaulted a member of the door staff, who had pushed her to the ground (almost certanly in self defence). There were no injuries and the man (the woman's boyfriend) hadn't been involved in the assault - although he had seen it. The door staff just wanted rid of them both, and before long the woman realised that it would be in her interests not to make a complaint and to be on her way. Both the woman and the door staff were happy to sign PNBs to the effect that they weren't injured, did not wish to make a complaint, and were happy for the police to resolve the mat…
