Hi, I've been in the police for 10 years. Prior to that I was in the military for 6 years. I'm an advanced Class 1 driver, vehicle examiner, and I work in the Road Policing Department, and patrol all of my county's roads, including motorways. I'm married to a cop, who is a plain clothes protection officer. Two kids and one ex police dog at home. Interested in motoring/driving related subjects, working dog training, internet research, self defence, flashlights/gadgets, reading, films and good food/drink. Nice to be aboard... S1

Greetings one and all. I am a serving member of the Royal Air Force Police and have been so for 17 years. I know some of you may have come across many of my colleagues (not all in a good light) but I hope to dispell some of the rumours about my trade, listen with intent and learn from you the specialists, and pass on my thanks. You lot do a great job and I wouldn't trade my A2 or springer in, for all the tea in china. Keep up the good work folks, and remember, not all service coppers are a pain in the ass 'wannabe'!

Ohayo Gozaimasu! Someone suggested we start a thread about all things Japanse as one thread was going off topic. Firstly, Geisha's aren't toms. The level of study, discipline and general deportment of them would be far above such things. Granted the one's I know about are during the Tokugawa Shogunate (1600s). it's probably that film that's stirred up the idea that Geisha are toms On the subject of japanese policing, I wasn't aware that japanese cops had a low social status. A bad reputation yes, certainly given the Japansese system's demand for confession and apologies the pressure on the police to get such confessions can lead to *ahem* shortcuts... The name…

Hello All, Just found this forum from the Oracle home page. Ive got over 30 in and I am on the precipice of retirement and deciding whether to jump of wait until I am pushed (civilianisation). Forum first impression? I like the ranking system based on contribution rather than reputation/knowledge. cheers

Found this site over the weekend, and went for it like a pack of hunting tortoises. (Slow but very sure). I have enjoyed a lot of what you all have to say, and agreed with a lot of it – some I’m not so sure about, but that’s mainly due to being over here … and slow news. I am Ex Met now in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Texas (I know I know) and loving it. So – here’s me throwing my hat in the door ….

Morning chaps. Just heard the news that I have an interview for the position of Civilian Instructor with the Army Cadets. Is anyone out there also an instructor for the Cadets and if so any tips for the interview? I know that it is unpaid but the weekends away are good! Radders38746.093599537

Darwin Award Winner (The late) John Pernicky and his friend, (the late) Sal Hawkins, of the great state of Washington, decided to attend a local Metallica concert at the George Washington amphitheater. Having no tickets (but having had 18 beers between them), they thought it would be easy to "hop" over the nine foot fence and sneak into the show. They pulled their pickup truck over to the fence and the plan was for Mr. Pernicky, who was 100 pounds heavier than Mr. Hawkins, to hop the fence and then assist his friend over. Unfortunately for (the late) Mr. Pernicky, there was a 30-foot drop on the other side of the fence. Having heaved himself over, he found himself cras…

Don't know if this is maybe just a London thing but what are relations like with the Fire Brigade or Ambulance service in your part of the world? I know we are all out there with the same good intentions etc but from what I see down here relations between the Met and LFB are at an all time low and I tend not to have a lot of time for them, in all honesty. Conversely, we seem to have an absolutely fantastic working relationship with the LAS and good mutual respect but from what I hear from them they seem to have an even worse relationship with Trumpton than we do. I put the bulk of it down to the strike (and let's face it, it has to be one of the most greedy and inep…

Greetings, all. I should really have posted this intro before I started batting away at 'real' subjects... sorry. As mentioned elsewhere, I'm ex job (Hull City as a cadet then Cumbria, once I "had my numbers up"), and most of my time was on Traffic. When I left the job, I did so to become a professional photographer (a love of my life) but swiftly got asked by lawyers and insurance companies to do scene work -- RTAs at first, then crime. Then I got asked to work in advanced driver training for civvies. When I came to the USA (New York State) I was still doing my photography and some writing for magazines, but even though it wasn't planned I'm now back in adva…
