Just seen this new-ish scheme in Kent - CPV (also known as Police Support Volunteers elsewhere) but this is particular to Kent and has * Aviation - private pilots / observers (uniforms worn) * Equine * Coastal *Joint Response Unit - fitness test, medical, uniform *Security (SIA badged) - SIA officers only The JRU caught my eye, as it looks very "hands on": (see quote below). https://www.kent.police.uk/police-forces/kent-police/areas/kent-police/c/specials-and-volunteers/community-policing-volunteer/joint-response-unit/ A great idea in my view!

The Kent forum doesn't seem to be getting used much recently but I was just wondering if there's anyone out there joining in this round of recruitment? Got my medical and uniform fitting coming up and hoping to get on the October intake.

Afternoon all! Very quick one, had my induction day today and the trainer mentioned something about having bulled shoes for drills. I've got a few pair of boots to have one working pair and a best pair but do I need any kind of parade shoes for smart kit? Don't want to turn up on my first day and end up panic buying!!

Does anyone know if Kent Police have adopted this my investigation model now used in the met where response officers carry their own crimes.

Hello This is my first post but I have been following the forum for a while and found a lot of the information extremely useful, so thank you to all those that contribute. I am currently waiting for vetting and security checks to come back (its probably 7-8 weeks now) and had my home visit last Tuesday. I was just wondering if anyone else is currently at the same stage of recruitment and if they have heard anything yet? I haven't officially been told of a provisional intake date although another applicant had said it was the first week of January. It would be good to hear from anyone that is hoping for the same intake date

Hi there guys I am in a position at the moment where I am looking to move out of my current home county of Cornwall where I am a Special Constable to gain experience elsewhere. Kent Police are a force which have came to my attention and I am looking at putting an application in for regulars soon. I am just wondering if anybody else on here has done this, how did they find the process applying out of the force area, how did you settle? what are Kent Police like to work for as a force? Any pointers or advice is welcome Many thanks

Evening all! Had a form through midway last week to apply/arrange for a diversity placement during training. Does anyone know what kind of thing this involves? I was expecting the diversity input to be wandering round various religious places of worship and having classroom inputs from reps of minority groups so quite curious to hear what this involves! Sounds like it's at least going to be a bit more involved and informative than the school RE lessons on various religions that we've heard 100 times! Any advice welcome

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/~/article-4654330/index.html Even through the DM can often be taken with a pinch of salt, Gravesend and Dover have both made it into the top 10 worst places to live in the UK [emoji23] What do people think? Have they missed any other beautiful Kentish towns or is it a fair assessment? I'm surprised Chatham hasn't featured if I'm honest

Evening all, Anyone able to post an updated list of kit issued to regs? Procrastinating at the minute and would be good to see suggestions of what bits of standard issue kit people think are a bit naff as well as maybe answer some others questions for the future! Cheers Alex

Hi, I wondered if anyone has applied for the 2017 intake? I submitted my application form at the end of Feb, not heard anything yet but apparently the next intake is August?

Evening ladies and gents, Just curious, how are boots issued in Kent to PC's? Are there standard issue now (applied a few years ago and at the fitting they told me to keep my altbergs from my old Special constab - which have since gone awol ) If not is there some kind of boot allowance given or is it just use your first pay? Cheers, A
