Hi, I will be starting my 15 weeks at training in a few weeks and was just wondering if anyone knows the situation in relation to student lockers at Netley? There is mention of them in the powerpoint we have been given at pre-employment days but I was just wondering if this is still the case? Reason I ask is I would most likely drive in in my own clothes and change into uniform and vice-versa coming home and it would be handier to be able to do this in the main building and have somewhere to store my gym kit instead of trekking over to the gym after work. Cheers Matt

Has anyone else seen this article on BBC news about Havant potentially scrapping their CCTV? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-35935180 Seems like a poor move in my opinion! Hampshire council looks to scrap 'ineffective' CCTV A council has proposed scrapping its CCTV cameras after deciding they are expensive, out-of-date and no longer effective. Havant Borough Council's scrutiny board recommended decommissioning the town's 46 cameras to save £134,096. It said the CCTV system covered the wrong areas, had a limited impact on crime, and could violate privacy laws. But the panel admitted the cameras were valued by the public and allowed the police to respo…

Hi there, I'm considering an application to become a PCSO in the GU area. The Hants site says that I need to attend a recruitment event but only shows a couple of dates in Feb, with the recruitment window open until July. Are anymore events being planned, and how long is the application process? Thanks all.

Hello all, Just saw that Hampshire Constabulary are recruiting for Special Constables again, and a question came to my mind. Hoping some of you may be able to answer it. It states that the minimum age to join up is 18yrs old, and I believe this is with most forces. But I have started to hear that you can join before the age of 18, or at least apply and do all your training, as you will be 18 by the time you have finished training. I heard from one Officer that you may be able to apply at just over 17 and a half years old. Thanks for reading and I will be very grateful for anyone that can answer this question for me, something I have been wondering about for quite some …

So I've more recent rumours that the CSO is pushing to get Specials onto standard courses, at least in a limited numbers. I know that driver training are over the hump of the huge backlog they had so although they're still very busy, capacity may be possible soon. From what I hear the CSO is resonably confident he can get something through, so we'll see. With that said, I've heard rumours in several incarnations pretty much my entire service and I'm yet to see anything actually happen.

Are we or are we not allowed to wear duty vests? Having all the kit on a belt is really starting to annoy me. I am 6'5 and struggle to get out of a fiesta in a hurry let alone when the cuffs catch on the door frame and fall out the holder!!!! Having kit on a vest would be so much easier. I have seen a few PCs do it but are there any of you guys that use them and are they worth it? Cheers, James
