Hello, I was just wondering if anybody from the Portsmouth areas is able to PM me the details of the SO/DO for Cosham station. I was inducted to Central SNT last year but have since been reposted to TPT at Cosham. I'm due to join the station in June and would just like to touch bases to get a locker (or lack of) amongst other things sorted out. Also does anybody know the situation with parking of private vehicles at Cosham or is it worth cycling in for the sake of ease? Cheers :new_thanks: Matt

I'm a Special in Dorset but due to start a police staff position with Hampshire next month. Is anyone aware if Hampshire police offer 'special leave' to police staff who are also special constables? I'm unsure on the exact specifics, but believe Dorset have a scheme where you can take one day off every fortnight to work as a special. Just wondering it Hampshire do anything similar? Cheers, Adam

So what did people get up to? I was out with the CSO going across the county on Friday night and it seemed fairly Q from a specials side. Saturday looked better with a few ops planned.

Had my gateway exam today. Was pretty pleased with how it went, until I got my score at the end. The tutor read out my score of 32%. I nearly had a heart attack and stayed behind, furious about the outcome. I convinced the tutor to reexamine my test result and he was shocked to find out they had given me THE WRONG question papers. He remarked my paper according to the newly discovered question papers and looked over to me.. "You scored 90%". Imagine my annoyance/frustration/surprise/excitement/happiness. And I experienced all of those emotions in about 3 minutes.

Tomorrow is the funeral of PC Rich Schofield who tragically died on 11th March after a crash at Portsmouth velodrome. Rich served in Southampton for 10 years and was a loved and respected officer, as well as a keen supporter of Specials. I was lucky enough to spend the first three years of my service on his shift, mostly crewed with him. Can I ask that at midday tomorrow (3rd April) that you spare a thought for Rich and his family, who have lost a son who gave so much to policing. Thank you one and all.

Dear all, I'm not sure if this is posted elsewhere but I know a lot of trainee specials are attending Netley at present including myself I came across iPlod on the App Store. This is available for apple and android. Go to www.policeapp.com for details. I've found it very useful. You do have to purchase but at just under a fiver I felt it worth while as there is a breadth of info at your fingertips Hope this helps Regards

So the News seems to be awash of criticism around how the Police deal with DV. I found a lot of what they were saying to not match up with my experiences with Hampshire and it's policy on how we deal with DV, so I looked at Hampshire's specific report. Low and behold, we come out very well nationally. We have the best charge rates of DV in the country and the recommendations compared to many other forces are quite brief. Whilst there is still some work to improve even more, I'm pretty satisfied that much of the criticism isn't applicable to Hampshire at least. http://www.hmic.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/hampshire-approach-to-tackling-domestic-abuse.pdf

Hi everyone, Just wondering if anybody had any more details of the upcoming changing specials structure?? I got an email about it months ago but have heard nothing since and wondering if its still going ahead. If so, is there a benefit to the new structure of Special Sergeant, Special Inspector etc? Also, lots of regulars are talking about personal issue tablets that they are meant to be getting issued with in April. Just wondering if anybody has more information on this, and if this will be the case also for independent specials? Along with these rumours are the fact that all paperwork will now be done on these tablets and all PCs, (that work in the southampton area) …

Hey guys, Quick question. I am getting loads of emails through with 'Specials FLT' in the subject bar with training courses and dates. Firstly, what even is FLT?? Secondly, the courses that they are saying that are mandatory for all Specials have very little dates and are few are far between, so what happens if you don't/can't attend them?? Finally, when they send around an email saying that a "Laser Pen Awareness" course is available, is there much point in even attending?? It does say that this course is mandatory but again, I can't make any of the dates they have given. I can;t see that courses being much fun for 3.5 hours. Thanks!

Hi guys Just signed up to the site, I have my A/C on March 18th. Really looking forward to it, but at the same time pretty nervous, I wasn't expecting to pass the paper sift stage to be honest, I'm now just revising the core competencies, I think this is going to be the hardest part for myself. Anyway, I've rambled on now so just want to say hello, and hope to maybe see some of you soon.

Hi there. I was wondering if there are any officers on the forum stationed in the Andover area. I am currently stationed just down the A303 in Wiltshire and would be interested in trying to organise a cross border operation.
