So I note in a recent global email that they state that gents must be "clean shaven" at Netley. Now, this is subtly different from the wording of the dress policy which states beards may be worn but must be tidy and no "designer stubble" type affairs. I have worn a beard for a good while now and keep it tidy on duty as per the policy but can't help object to the fact the email says "clean shaven". I've never had anyone mention something, so perhaps I'm just being picky.

Evening, I was looking over this thread recently; http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?/topic/115023-issued-uniform-list/ And, I thought I'd ask a few Hampshire Constabulary specific questions about the issues kit. Firstly; What Kit were you issued? When were you issued your kit? Where were you issued your kit? How much kit do you get? (will you need a hold-all and a Transit van can to get it from stores?!) What happens about replacing broken/soiled/Ill-fitting kit? Are you issued specialist kit for your role after attestation? If you could help me that'd be great! Many Thanks!

Hi guys, Anyone other than me attending the attestation on the 23rd? Would be good to put faces to usernames if anyone is around

I think in the new year I might look at moving stations just for something new and a different challenge to keep me interested. I am currently based in the North of the county and patrol a massive area. I was thinking of maybe moving to Southampton or Winchester as I know the areas really well. Can anyone based at these stations let me know what it is like to work from? I am independent, cycle, car, van and 4x4 trained with compliant stops. At these stations, could I turn up and take out a vehicle (if one is available) or would it mainly be NTE foot patrol? Don't really fancy moving and not being able to use my training to it's full potential. Nothing against NTE, I enj…

Just watched an old (2006) episode of Traffic Cops which was filmed in Hampshire. Smart and professional officers who genuinely enjoyed their job I feel very proud to be joining a brilliant force! A friend keeps telling me to join the Met, as a regular, when they're next recruiting. No thanks, I'll wait and join Hampshire!

Hi everybody! Just wondering if anybody else was having trouble completing the Foundation training? I work out of the country for most of my work which doesn't help, but it seems that the training dates are few and far between, and if you can't attend one session, the next one might not be for months. Any idea why they don't just run it like the theory sessions and give you a list of training days that you can book in advance instead of giving (sometimes very short) notice a bit before the training happens. I started my Foundation back in April but have only completed 2 sessions out of something like 19. Since April I have only gotten one offer to complete Emergency …

I was talking to someone who was on my intake when I was a trainee and who is now an SO in the eastern area. She told me that specials where she works aren't allowed to be OIC on any RMS occurrences. This surprised me as I've been OIC on loads and have the jobs on my account at the moment where I am OIC. All the jobs have been properly investigated and the Sgt reviews always show that this is in a timely manner. It does highlight that there is plenty of variation across the force on these local policies. Is my area the exception or the norm?

I suspect these questions are neatly answered elsewhere but I can't find them, sorry. As my Special application is starting to pick up momentum (fitness in 2 weeks) I wanted to give my employer a good idea of how me being a special could impact on work. So any specials out there I'd appreciate your views. Thanks. 1. How often does work (and training) interfere with your working day? 2. How often do court appearances occur and what sort of notice do you get? 3. If I should be on the wrong end of kicking and miss work will sick pay be borne by my company alone or do the Police contribute? 4. Any other factors that an employer should know? Thank you all for any he…

In an effort to save money, most (probably all) Constabularies are having to make vast financial savings. The new headquarters in Winchester has been axed and now Boxer-1 as well. Personally, I think Boxer-1, whilst seeming to be an extravagence, is an awesome asset, there are those who are less supportive. True, it has its foibles and constraints but the overall contribution must surely weigh in favour over the drawbacks. The fixed wing aircraft based out of Lee-on-the-Solent is going and will be replaced by two helicopters shared between Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey and based in RAF Odiham (near Hook) and Shoreham. I've yet to see (or hear) anything about what w…

good day, bare with me while I explain my problem. As I have recently joined traffic I now have a white hat cover. All well and good however the cover forces the hat of my head!! Anyone have a similar issue? I never had the black cover on for the same reason? Anyway of stretching or should I be looking at a smaller hat? Thanking you in advance!

My wife, whilst trying to work out what 'police stuff' she can get me for Christmas, enquired as to whether Hampshire Police issues Warrant Card holders or if they need to be individually purchased. It made me ponder the question myself as I've never really thought about it. Not that I think it'll help her Christmas pressie planning as they're unlikely to sell her one She can get me a nice klickfast torch instead.

Hi All, hampshiresaint posted in the Questions about Recruitment section earlier that SC recruitment is now open until this coming Monday (30th) with an application limit of 300. I just thought I'd post it here as well in case anyone was interested and hadn't seen it there. The link can be found in the original post: http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?/topic/141091-hampshire-specials-recruitment/ Good luck to anyone who applies!
