Considering a move from Met to Dorset

Hello, I'm a Met Special with 4 years service currently living in London but for personal reasons I am considering moving down to Dorset, specifically the Bournemouth area. I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction, or offer me advice, on what the process would be transferring as a Special to Dorset? I'm very much a "career special" with no intentions of becoming a Regular, I am signed off as IPS with all my training up to date. I know nothing about Dorset police, or more specifically what role a Special plays down there so I would very much like your local knowledge and advice. Thanks

Hello I was due to have my induction on 6th February 2016 to become a Special Constable for Dorset Police. I received a very disappointing email yesterday to say that the February intake has been postponed for at least 6 months as they training needs to be reviewed and restructured. Gutted isn't the word! I was so looking forward to my induction and make a start on my training. I was ready to throw myself into it and I was very eager and excited. I understand why it's been postponed, but now I don't know what to do in the meantime. Is there anyone else on here in the same position? Does anyone have any suggestions for a short term venture until I can star…

I know @FarmBoy on here will be there but also wondering who else on Police Community that is also starting at the same time? We will be the first group in Dorset Police using the new online training system after a successful trial at Devon & Cornwall.

Am I the only one that thinks filling the Dorset Specials Facebook page with No excuses type posts (a rolling update of number of tickets issued) is becoming a bit boring? Kind of gives a public perception that all we do is pick on motorists and issue tickets. I've emailed Vol support with several noteworthy things that have gone on at my station in the past, but they don't seem to want to post them on there. (not prepared to post them myself given my name will pop up and it's an open group)

Hello! I'm currently a special in Hampshire but have recently registered for the current round of Dorset PC recruitment as its not all that far from where i am at the moment. Can anyone give an idea of what its like to work in the Bournemouth/Pool/Weymouth areas? The district I work on at the moment is pretty non-stop which is what I like really. I quite like the idea of working somewhere quite busy/urban but with rural areas being nearby as well. ta, matt

Bit of a strange thread I know, but few weeks ago while in Weymouth we stopped off at a lovely sandwich shop in Weymouth, I'm back up there this week and want to go back there for lunch, but can't remember for the life of me where it was or what it was called. I don't think it was too far from the Station, and was on the entrance of an industrial estate I believe, also had a petrol station at the same site. Does anyone know what one I'm talking about?
