Source: http://www.scotsman....lonel_1_2031564 I'm sure there'll be no shortage of Scottish personnel to form such a force, but I was under the impression that this maritime counter-terrorism role is currently under the remit of Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines. Despite this being labelled as a 'warning' from the Colonel, I'm sure the SNP would happily form a SF regiment as a status symbol if nothing else.

Hi all, I read an article in the sharp end, relating to an allowance that is available to "all officers" which in essense is an £110 allowance to cover costs of cleaning uniform. For the req's it is paid directly but does not specify for specials. So on the basis of this i raised it within my LPA who advised that I should be entitiled to claim it but would have do do so through my local HMRC. This i have done so but they have intially knocked me back on the premise of that it is for "full time serving officers" only. I am of course challanging this with them and the battle is still in progress. Just wanted to check with the team whether anybody is already claiming the…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20999323 How on earth did this boy manage to drive 620 miles without any questions asked? He must have had to refuel at least once because I doubt the mercedes does many MPG (edit: just read the article again and it was twice!). Nobody suspected anything when a 13 year old steps out of a car, refills it and then goes to pay unaccompanied. He also crossed an international border to Austria and was well on his way to Germany before being intercepted after his parents informed interpol. Where were the regular italian police on this? Surely he must have passed 1 police car in 620 miles.

Absolute shocker here, going to be an impact all round. Local economies, prison spaces, whatever. Yes they're talking about a super-prison elsewhere in the county, but I wonder if it will be a prison or a hotel? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-20970697

On BBC 6pm news tonight there was an interesting piece about MPs and a review into their pay, terms and conditions. However, the MPs have all been asked their views which, inevitably, resulted in a unanimous vote for payrise - supposedly with many supporting a payrise of up to £20K.... Apparently to encourage new people of suitable standing and experience to become MPs you need to pay well.... Though they did say that the next stage is that the general public get to have their say into MPs levels of pay

Police said the club has helped them build a relationship with young people The Jawaid Khaliq Boxing Academy is run by the former world champion boxer and his brother, Kamran Khaliq. Police have previously said the club, based in Nottingham, has helped them build up a good relationship with the young people who use it. But the club cannot afford to stay in its current premises and has been unable to find a suitable new venue. Kamran Khaliq said: "Here they [young people] have got something positive; they've got a role model in my brother who was a former world champion boxer, and actually achieved MBE status. Jawaid Khaliq retired in 2006 after two years without a…

Now if you're going to walt, make sure you do it properly. It would be an utterly hilarious story if it didn't involve the deaths of 42 Police Officers. RIP.
