Formatting of the quoted text is off as I'm on my phone Taken from: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2285393/MPs-holiday-paying-gold-plated-pensions-leaving-taxpayer-pick-2million-bill.html I'm speechless. MPs deciding to not increase their pension contributions when every other public sector have had to increase theirs. I did like the comparison with Police pension contributions though.

Cornwall councillor refuses to resign after saying all disabled children "should be put down" A CORNWALL councillor has apologised but refused to resign after telling a disability charity that all disabled children "should be put down". Colin Brewer, independent councillor Wadebridge East, made the comments to Disability Cornwall at County Hall when the group had an information stand at an event to allow councillors to meet equalities organisations and understand some of the issues they face. Cornwall Councillor Colin Brewer At the event, which took place in October 2011, Mr Brewer approached the stand and was told how the group helps parents of children …

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4j12vPbn1E I just can't believe this, genuinely incredible. "I do not debate with Israelis" I think this tumblr sums up my reaction quite well: Ps, not sure if this should be here, or in the locker room.

Sorry this was supposed to go in Real World Does anyone else share the opinion that there should be a limit or at least regular testing for pensioners to be able to drive cars safely on the road? My great grandad is almost 90 and he is still driving. In the last 5 years he has probably wrote off around 5 cars and busted the clutch or overheated many more. He is deaf but he doesn't require glasses to drive...apparently. In his opinion, it was never his fault on any of these occasions and no situation has never been taken to court. He can't hear when to change gear in the car so is often ploughing along at 7,000 revs in gear 1 or 2. It's clear that when you get older yo…

South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been arrested over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria, local media say. Police said a 26-year-old man, who they have not named, was in custody and a case of murder was being investigated. The precise circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear. Reports say he may have mistaken her for a burglar. Pistorius, 26, is known as the "blade runner", and was the first double amputee to run in the Olympics. The news that he may have killed his girlfriend will shock the country as Pistorius is regarded as one of South Africa's national icons, reports the BBC's Peter Biles from Capetown. The in…

I used to love cycling, but as I've got older, with a disability living in one of the hilliest cities in England, I've tended to resort to four motorised wheels (car and bus). All the EU monies spent by councils on these cycle paths/lanes have caused a more than a few problems, especially around here. There are lots of cyclists (the hills don't seem to put them off) and many of them choose to cycle many miles through our fair city. Some of the markings and direction signs are a complete farce. For instance, directly opposite from the office where I'm currently working, the cycle path crosses the pedestrian only area, across a main road and the wrong way down a one-way…

I have posted this in here, but I'm sure one of our Mods will kindly move it elsewhere if appropriate. It has recently been reported in the media about police officers and more recently a Deputy PCC posting entirely inappropriate messages and wording on public forums / social networking sites. Common sense is always the key here and unfortunately, the lack of it in most cases by users holding office has resulted in them being disciplined or them having to consider their positions. The advice is simple really, users should not post anything that they would not say in person and in front of many witnesses. It is suggested that some social networking sites / forums are not…

It seems Prince Philip is on form again! What do you think about his 'gaffes'? From MSN: The Duke of Edinburgh told a Filipino nurse her country must be "half empty", because so many of her compatriots have come to the UK to work for the NHS. He made the remark during a visit to Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he unveiled a £5.5m cardiac centre. "The Philippines must be half empty - you're all here running the NHS," the prince told the nurse, who laughed. A spokesperson for the hospital said the visit of the duke had been "hugely motivational". The 91-year-old royal, who called himself "the world's most experienced curtain puller", was said to be in a "jovial" m…
