I was wondering if any Met officers on here could enlighten me as to what the IC codes mean ie. ''IC1 male last seen high street wearig....'' etc. Also the units for example co19 which I think is frearms. Are there other co's ie. co1, co2, co3 etc. Many thanks for any info, just curious.

Just a quick question regarding the name on the warrant card. Is it generally the officers full name eg. Joseph Matthew Bloggs or can the officer choose what they prefer. eg. Joe Bloggs. Thanks

Just wondering as a female Police Officer knocked on our door last night, she had her sun glasses on. I didn't mind... probably to do with the fact that she was young and looked rather attractive. They clearly did send one of Lancashire's finest. Anyway this lovely weather just made me wonder if there are any rules for Police Officers wearing sunglasses.

From reading the Police Oracle article posted on this forum and here http://www.policeora...ials_32930.html it got me thinking about rewards for the special constabulary to keep retention and moral up. Do you agree specials should have some kind or reward / incentive? I understand we are volunteers but just interested in ideas as to what people would like to receive if something was brought in. I know there is a 27 page pinned thread above regarding paying specials but just wondering if anyone has any other ideas other than money.

Self explanatory really. If we (England and Wales, maybe Scotland- depending on how they feel), what would you, personally, want? MODs- Move this to kit corner if you deem it appropriate.

Do you lot think that joining the military police would be a good idea? It's easier to get into the the civilian police and would be good for getting life experiences. I would plan on joining GMP when I come out of the MP. What do you think

I have always wanted to be in the Police and have had two spells as a Special. I love the buzz, the achievement, and the cameraderie. I had a spell of ten years when I didn't do it as the day job (which was also exciting) got in the way. I've recently come back into the Policing family and really love it. But I do worry that all the reading I have to do, carrying out the job on shift, fitness, watching 20 or so different police dramas or real life doccos will get in the way of my real life job. Does anyone feel the same way?

Over the past few days I have watched with some interest the case of Joanna Yeates and the search and investigation and subsequent arrest of her Landlord who has since been released on police bail. I am very concerned that in many high profile cases the media seem to go to town on the most minor of details about individuals and the way in which cases are followed by the Newspapers (RED TOPS) and the detail and language used to report the investigations: The Sun claimed that Joanna's landlord was OBSESSED BY DEATH as an example, some of the other headlines have included; Meddler let himself in Flat Suspect ‘followed me’ says woman Should there be stronger control …

Wasn't sure where to put this, basically i have passed my interview etc to become a PCSO and should hopefully be starting by the end of June. I just wondered how many weekends a PCSO will typically work? Will it depend on the force, it isn't an issue how many i work, just wanted an idea of how much i'd be forecasted to earn over a year with the allowance included. I haven't really had the rota system of a PCSO explained to me to be honest.

Just wondered if anyone had heard of the scheme? it involves police officers going in to schools and coaching tag rugby and passing out leaflets to kids on safety. this is a national scheme and i encourage officers to get involved where possible http://www.cvoc.org.uk/ is the link to the charity. also if you come across any child victims of crime you think deserve a break or reward, nominate them using the forms on the site! only serving police officers can nominate them but i think this includes specials!
